What do you think?

It’s DD’s (age 6) middle name, chosen by her Dad. It doesn’t do a huge amount for me if I am honest but I don’t dislike it either. I don’t have a middle name so I wasn’t fussed about giving her one and let husband choose it.

DrBuckles · 27/04/2019 20:18

My favourite name. Love it.

redexpat · 27/04/2019 20:18

I really like it.

thecowjumpedoverthemoon · 27/04/2019 20:18

Personally I love it!

Ohhellothereladyface · 27/04/2019 20:19

Sorry I think it’s dated!

Whizzler · 27/04/2019 20:20

It's a bit 90s really and it's not as classic as Georgina and Georgiana but still a nicer name in my opinion.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 27/04/2019 20:20

I know a little girl Georgiana (AKA Georgie)

Georgia is ok

Parker231 · 27/04/2019 20:21

I love it - my friend has a 10 month old called Georgia

Dieu · 27/04/2019 20:23

I quite like it. Georgette is pretty.

cliquewhyohwhy · 27/04/2019 20:24

I have a Georgia and I love it.

IdaBWells · 27/04/2019 20:24

Love it. I have a teenage Georgina though so I am biased.

IdaBWells · 27/04/2019 20:26

Brits always seem to like George names of every variety and gender. They seem to have staying power across the generations.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2019 20:26

It's dated & it's never been a classic. Georgina & Georgiana are much classier names, IMO. I don't like Georgia at all.

Twickerhun · 27/04/2019 20:27

Love it

spreadingchestnuttree · 27/04/2019 20:31

I really like it. If you look on the ONS chart you can see it's not really a classic. It first became popular in the 1990s but has stayed in about the top 60 ever since so still fairly popular. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/livebirths/articles/babynamessince1904howhasyoursperformed/2016-09-02

User10fuckingmillion · 27/04/2019 20:31

I don’t think it dated at all!

IdaBWells · 27/04/2019 20:33

Georgia is the name of a state in the USA as it was named after one of the King Georges (probably the bonkers one). So a name that has been a feminized version of George for hundreds of years is a classic in my book.

IdaBWells · 27/04/2019 20:34

Elizabeth and Anne are hardly massively popular right now either but both would surely be considered classics.

spreadingchestnuttree · 27/04/2019 20:35

But I don't really see it as a classic girls' name. Could be wrong. It feels a very recent, modern name to me. The only old mention I can think of is "Georgia on my mind" but I'm not sure if that's about a woman or the US state?!

IdaBWells · 27/04/2019 20:36

Classic is not about popularity but endurance.

Elizabeth is a classic.
Gertrude is not.

ImogenTubbs · 27/04/2019 20:36

I love it. It was on our list.

spreadingchestnuttree · 27/04/2019 20:37

Looks like it's more of a classic name in the US: www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/girl/georgia

OldAndWornOut · 27/04/2019 20:39

I think its beautiful. Smile

ChristinaMarlowe · 27/04/2019 20:43

I think it's lovely. Just don't spell it Jorja. I have a teenage student with that spelling. Makes me wince every time I read it.

ThatCurlyGirl · 27/04/2019 21:13

I hear the song in my head and it's all relaxing and jazzy so I like it! Classic one for me - a few naice girls at my school had it and both were sweet so I don't have the bad association thing I do with lots of girls names having gone to a girls school!
