Twin names Olive and Ivy

Honest thoughts on names Olive and Ivy. Expecting twin girls at the end of June and still debating names. We like Amber and Zara as we feel they are ‘safer’ names but have always loved Olive and Ivy but not sure if too out there.

I think Olive and Ivy are beautiful names 😍

Pinkarsedfly · 22/04/2019 21:31

All four are lovely names.

I particularly like Olive and Ivy though.

stanski · 22/04/2019 21:34

Olive and Ivy are lovely names and go well together

Ivy44 · 22/04/2019 21:36

Olive and Ivy are lovely names.

Must admit that I’m biased against Amber though, the class bully was called Amber.

Fivefootoffun · 22/04/2019 21:36

Gorgeous combination - beautiful names yet so effortless.

Love love love love love

Also off the top of my head Lottie and Ivy is cute :)

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 22/04/2019 21:41

Lovely. Also Edith and Ivy.

They were my nan and her best friend who lived in the same village for 85 years and were a right pair when they got together for a Bailey's Grin

HopeMatters · 22/04/2019 21:41

I think Olive is dreadful: so dowdy and lumpen, and not even a nice sound. Ivy's alright but pretty common round here now.

Amber and Zara are much nicer!

LikeDolphinsCanSwim · 22/04/2019 21:45

Zara and Ivy.

Olive and Ivy sound too matchy to me. Possibly because if said quickly my ear just hears Holly and Ivy.

wowfudge · 22/04/2019 21:48

They sound like my grandma's little old lady friends, complete with shopping hats and trolleys.

Amber and Zara are more modern, but 90s names I'd say.

LettuceLeave · 22/04/2019 21:52

I think Olive & Ivy are gorgeous together!

TildaTurnip · 22/04/2019 22:08

They’re lovely together. Much prefer to Amber. Zara is nice too. Zara and Ivy go well I think. Any combination of those three!

Chocolatecake12 · 22/04/2019 22:10

Amber ivy and Zara olive
Use the (IMO) nicer names as first names and the others as middle names

pilates · 22/04/2019 22:12

Prefer Amber and Zara
Olive and Ivy are frumpy

prettyhibiscusflowers · 22/04/2019 22:14

Love love love olive and ivy! Dd was potentially going to be an ivy (dh vetoed olive) but she ended up with a ‘nature’ name.

tastylancs · 22/04/2019 22:16

Yes Olive and Ivy - gorgeous!

miamiibiza · 22/04/2019 22:20

Love Olive and Ivy

ApplestheHare · 22/04/2019 22:23

Weirdly we know young twins called Olive and Ivy. The names really suit them and work well together IRL. Congratulations Flowers

MillicentMartha · 22/04/2019 22:23

Don’t like Olive, but Ivy is nice. How about Elsie and Ivy or Dorothy and Ivy?

cstaff · 22/04/2019 22:25

Olive and ivy are ok. The only reason I wouldn't call twins by those names is because they are quite alike.

I used to hang out with two sisters called julie and Shirley and we used to confuse their names and call them jirley and shuley. Even their mother used to do this.

tabbiemoo · 22/04/2019 22:34

Ivy is cute (although does make me think of Poison Ivy) but I have always hated Olive. To me it’s just such an ugly sounding name, very durgey like the colour olive green.

Zara and Ivy would be nice.

Lochroy · 22/04/2019 22:34

I don't think Olive and Ivy are at all 'out there'. But if said a bit too quickly is a bit like a badly pronounced Christmas tune.. the 'ollly and the ivy, when they...

Love Ivy, would prefer something else instead of Olive.

GreenTulips · 22/04/2019 22:37

Am I the only one singing ‘The ‘Olly and the Ivy’ ?

FuzzyShadowChatter · 22/04/2019 22:40

I think all your name choices are nice and none of them too out there, though I prefer Olivine to Olive.

stellarfox · 22/04/2019 22:41

Lovely! I didn’t used to be a fan of Olive but it’s growing on me. I love the suggestion someone else made of Edith and Ivy too
