Name for potential DS

Don't hold back, but try to be constructive please. If you don't like, can you explain exactly why?

Sounds like 'look at us cool parents'. As a nick name maybe, at a push. his real name was Edgar Eugene Aldrin Jr.

itsnotso · 24/04/2019 21:39

But all the Teddy's I know are Teddy, not a version of anything else. And their mothers are quite insistent that they are called by that. So the only name to change it to in later life is Ted, which is equally as plain as Buzz. Just my opinion, I'm yet to meet a boardroom Teddy but it'll happen! All those quoted are Ted, not Teddy. I just can't see anyone wanting to go through life as a Teddy bear, just like this child probably wouldn't want to be a Buzz Lightyear 🤷‍♀️

dreichuplands · 24/04/2019 21:51

Ted is a normal, short name. Buzz isn't.

TooTightJeans · 24/04/2019 22:06

Ridiculous. Who would want this as their actual name?

TooTightJeans · 24/04/2019 22:07

Tallulah and Ted make much more sense as names.

NorthernRunner · 24/04/2019 22:43

A good test, I found for name choosing is, would you want this name?

Buzz hasn’t got the best reception on here, but I actually quite like it. I can see a grown man with that name, as well as a toddler.

I much prefer it to the -ie ending names such as Albie, Alfie, Archie. Buzz sounds strong to me.

Minglemangle · 24/04/2019 22:55

Interesting that ‘Frank Skinner’ had a completely different name but changed it to FS when he started out in showbiz. He lumbered his son with Buzz but called himself a fairly nice name, what a cunt.

clary · 24/04/2019 22:58

Re Ted: my dad was known as Teddy as a child and as Ted as a grown up. He was a teacher so clearly attained some level of gravitas. He was literally universally Ted, though it was a nickname. Funnily enough his name was Edwin, I never heard anyone call him Buzz tho 😂😂

percheron67 · 24/04/2019 22:58

Are you expecting a wasp perchance?

Chocmallows · 24/04/2019 23:00

Buzz the buzzy bee, busy Buzz, Buzz lightyear to the rescue. I can imagine the teasing at school!

hellomelloy · 24/04/2019 23:26

Like it, considered it for DS.

Cannyhandleit · 24/04/2019 23:27

Love it

slappinthebass · 25/04/2019 11:29

I like it. I'd probably try and come up with a longer name and use Buzz as a full time nickname. Buster? Albus? Barnabus? At a stretch Sebastian.

MikeUniformMike · 25/04/2019 17:21

Could it be short for Balonz?

frenchonion · 25/04/2019 17:49

It's fucking ridiculous

frenchonion · 25/04/2019 17:52

Sorry, not constructive. It's just a noise. You could get away with it in the states as a nickname I think, but UK a definite no. Its a wannabe hipster type name...although can't even describe it as a name...its just not! It's the noise a bee makes. The poor kid will be teased his entire life.

FrequentNameChange · 25/04/2019 18:35

Buzz cut was my first thought. It's beyond silly I'm afraid but fine as a nickname.

bridgetreilly · 25/04/2019 20:46
