OK-my last attempt to offer a “new” baby name did not go down well, but I’m sure you’ll like this one....

..Ds’s mates are round for band practice- and the new drummer is..Ivo.

There you go. Simple, classic, easy to say and spell. You can thank me later.

I think it's good - quite cool in fact. And certainly fits with modern popular boy sounds - Leo, Theo, Milo, Hugo.

Pemba · 17/04/2019 04:31

Not bad, and a bit different too. SO much nicer than Clive!

Danglingmod · 17/04/2019 08:08

Arlo, Otto...

Marmite27 · 17/04/2019 08:10

I know a family with the surname Iveson. Predictably most of the men are known as Ivo.

Small Yorkshire mining town. I was surprised to see upper class people with the same name Blush

DappledThings · 17/04/2019 08:10

Would have been DC2's middle name if she'd been a boy. After Ivo Bligh.

zen1 · 17/04/2019 08:17

I know someone called Ivo (in their forties). I really like it.

BertrandRussell · 17/04/2019 09:50

I still like Clive.

How about Clivo?

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 17/04/2019 09:53

Is it pronounced Cleevo or Clive-o?

BertrandRussell · 17/04/2019 09:57

Well, I prefer the British “Cl-eye-vo. But some people like the Italian “cl-ee-vo. That sounds a bit pretentious to me for an. English speaking family....

You'd be better off choosing an Italian name, Lorenzo or Giovanni or something, if you are British. Leave the John and Henry type names to the Italians.

Bentley111 · 17/04/2019 10:03

I love Ivo. It would certainly be on our list if it didn't clash with our surname.

MikeUniformMike · 17/04/2019 10:46

Bertrand, how about Darrell as a name for reviving? To freshen it, you could use Darrell or Daryl as a spelling, and if it's Darrell, opt for
Dar-RELL as the pronunciation.

Scottishgirl85 · 17/04/2019 11:27

My nephew is Ivo 😁

reeny19 · 17/04/2019 11:32

The Ivo is a high school in Cambridgeshire, so it’s a no from me! If you lived far away from Cambs then you could probably get away with it.
Clive is much better. 😁

Bloomburger · 17/04/2019 12:04

Love it. I would definitely actively associate with that family.

BertrandRussell · 17/04/2019 12:17

“Bertrand, how about Darrell as a name for reviving?“
HWMNBN?

I genuinely have a soft spot for Damon...

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 17/04/2019 13:34

The only Ivo I know did go to Eton but I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

MikeUniformMike · 17/04/2019 18:18

I prefer Damian to Damon.

MikeUniformMike · 17/04/2019 18:19

Bertrand, how about Hercules?

SoftBlocks · 17/04/2019 18:20

Nice.

AlliKaneErikson · 18/04/2019 00:57

I think it’s quite a (as my 9 yo dd would put it) ‘sassy’ name. I quite like it!

elp30 · 18/04/2019 01:11

I'm not sure on the name Ivo but for the past 38 years, I've been crazy about an Australian musician/ singer/ songwriter, Member of the Order of Australia (AM) known as Ivor Arthur Davies. He's better known IVA Davies from the band Icehouse.

Apparently, Ivor's name was misheard and his professional name of Iva was born.
I personally love it. Have a think about it OP. If anything, your child would have a pretty impressive namesake.

PrincessFiorimonde · 18/04/2019 01:29

Ivo is a main character in a Georgette Heyer (Regency romance) novel, 'Bath Tangle'. Does that make you warm to the name more, or put you off? Grin

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 18/04/2019 08:48

Clive 😂

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 18/04/2019 08:48

Baby Nigel?
