Hi all,

Thought this would be quite a fun thread to do as I think we have all had those names we have ADORED in the past and we look back now and think god no!

I made a list of baby names when I was 13 and on that list was Maygen for a girl😂 (literally pronounced may-gen) and Tina (nothing wrong with the name Tina just can't imagine a baby being named it!)

What are your WHY DID I LIKE THAT names? Smile

I was a fan of Grease as a teenager and thought I would call my daughter Sandra D, but spell it like it's one word, Sandredi. Sounds awful now 😂. Btw I have two boys and no girls anyway, probably for the best 😩

DobbysLeftSock · 11/04/2019 14:54

Pmsl at Sandredi Grin

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 11/04/2019 15:01

I always wanted Cressida for a girl

I used to like Aaron and Ashley for boys

DS is none of the above

mrsm43s · 11/04/2019 15:13

I wanted to call a daughter Tiffany, I though it was really cool. This was based on the 80's redhead popstar Tiffany, not the Eastender's Tiffany. It's a name that makes me cringe a bit now.

Quintella · 11/04/2019 20:28

Tiffany is actually a centuries old name with quite a fancy pedigree, but yeah............. red haired Tiffany bouncing around Texan shopping malls singing that song have kind of changed its image for anyone who was a child of the 80s! Grin

Quintella · 11/04/2019 20:29

And I love Sandredi! Most hilarious name I've seen mentioned on MN Grin

Moonflower12 · 11/04/2019 21:03

@Lobsterquadrille2
I have a daughter called Cybele! It's her middle name.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/04/2019 21:27

@Moonflower12 - your daughter is the first I've heard of in real life! I read a book when I was about 14 where Cybele was a main character and absolutely loved it. Still do, and especially the way it looks. Great name!!

Greensleeves · 11/04/2019 21:29

I wanted Geraldine. At one time ALL my dolls were called Geraldine.

wizzler · 11/04/2019 21:39

I wanted so much to be Angela

PissOffPeppa · 11/04/2019 21:49

About 14, I wanted Brooke-Elle and Tyla for girls, and Bailey for a boy. Definitely not the choices I would go for now!

Bumblebeesmum · 11/04/2019 21:51

I actually have named my daughter the name I liked most age 13!

lillymunster · 11/04/2019 21:52

I always wanted to be called Gemma or Lisa, I've absolutely no idea why. They're perfectly fine names but I'm not sure why I was so fixated by them!

AuntieStella · 11/04/2019 21:53

When I was a girl, the name I coveted was Emily.

Boys would have been Paul or Mark.

Bezalelle · 11/04/2019 22:51

I liked Cantabria for a girl and Oquit for a boy. Horrific!

MotherofaCat · 11/04/2019 22:54

In my teens I used to love the name Harley and Cyan lol

Bouledeneige · 11/04/2019 23:00

Oh yeah!

When I was a little girl I wanted to call my daughters Jackie and Caroline and cried when my sister said she had taken those names. I also liked Stephen.

As I grew up I then liked what I thought were very sophisticated names like Hermione, Lorelei and Rosanna. Happily I was never pregnant in those years so didnt get to impose them on my children.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 11/04/2019 23:08

I was going to have 6 kids, but I only remember 3 of their names (bad mother!Grin)

Ashley (boy)
Charlotta (not Charlotte!)
Simon

I have boys. My youngest's middle name is Simon, I've always loved it.

grincheux · 11/04/2019 23:16

I desperately wanted to be called Clara, then Candice, and I think at one point I saw myself as a Veronica too Hmm

OopsOhNoZHM · 11/04/2019 23:31

Oh I had a few on my list as a kid, and (thankfully, in some cases) none of them made the cut!

B: Tino, Orca, Cade, Cannagan, Fell
G: Faith, Cadee, Larka, Skylar

Often inspired by whatever I was reading at the time!

Bouncingbelle · 11/04/2019 23:41

At various times, i wanted daughters called Tuesday, Thursday (which would have went perfectly when i married jirdan knight from NKOTB Blush)Mandy, Kimber & Nirvana.

I only ever loved 2 names for a boy & my DS has both of them!

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 15/04/2019 07:09

When I was about ten, I was convinced I would name my daughter Shannon.
I have a daughter. She is definitely not called Shannon.
