Hi all,

Thought this would be quite a fun thread to do as I think we have all had those names we have ADORED in the past and we look back now and think god no!

I made a list of baby names when I was 13 and on that list was Maygen for a girl😂 (literally pronounced may-gen) and Tina (nothing wrong with the name Tina just can't imagine a baby being named it!)

What are your WHY DID I LIKE THAT names? Smile

When I was about 14 I LOVED Riley for a girl and also Kyla 🤨
Oscar was number one for a boy for years and also Benjamin, but I went off them both completely!
My current choices couldn’t be anymore different 😂

lordofthefries · 08/04/2019 01:13

My daughter was going to be Jeniffer and my son Scott

BurrSir · 09/04/2019 09:10

My dolls were Moon and Star and Lulu and Amy!

Sessy19 · 09/04/2019 10:29

I loved the names Sean (after a boy at school I’d had a crush on who sadly died! 😳) and Kirsty!

I also liked Phoebe, but my stepdaughter has that name so I could never use it, and now would never suggest it! 😬

CherryBlossom23 · 09/04/2019 13:24

I had Francesca, Maxine and Savannah on my list for girls. Not awful but wouldn't be my first choice now!

HJWT · 09/04/2019 13:26

When i was young I like Mckenzie and Lexi for a girl 😂 and when pregnant with DD if she was a boy she was going to be called Jayden, so glad she was a girl as I hate it now!

serenawren · 09/04/2019 19:19

I wanted to be renamed Angela!

Buffymum · 09/04/2019 19:31

Pagan ( Lace )
Fallon ( dynasty )
Lucia
Charlie ( top gun )
Most of my friends were Irish and I loved the boys names - Red, Fergus , Hugh , Patrick ,

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/04/2019 19:51

My little brother was going to have triplets named Cool, Hip and Trendy 😂

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/04/2019 19:56

In the early 80s when I was in my teens, my children were going to be:

Patsy Alice
Portia Scarlett
Henry Theodore
Joshua Harvey

None of which would be remarkable today!

Cbeebiesrehab · 09/04/2019 20:11

When I was a child I wanted to be called Bridget🤔
When I was a teen I wanted a girl called Isla-Rae and a boy called Toby.
I seriously dislike the girls name now, although I do still love Tobias-Toby not so much.

popcorndiva · 09/04/2019 20:14

I always wanted a DD called Claudia after one of the characters in Babysitters Club

popcorndiva · 09/04/2019 20:15

Oh and Octavia (thought it was v posh) from the Jilly Cooper novel

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/04/2019 20:17

I wanted a daughter called Cybele ...

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/04/2019 20:19

My future ds (from my child self in mid/late 70’s) was destined to be Paul.

Shortly after when I fell out of love with the name Paul he was to be Jon (Jonathan)

I had three dses and none was a Paul or Jonathan. There’s a surprise.

Bellaposey · 09/04/2019 20:22

When I was in early teens I went through a stage of wanting four girls all with names beginning with P (Charmed fan). Only two I can remember were Piper and Paxton. I still quite like time actually but wouldn't use them!

Also loved Thalia and used to doodle it in notebooks and now that's quite popular (in mumsnet terms!).

Tequilamockinbird · 09/04/2019 20:27

I always wanted a daughter called Cally (from Grange Hill).

When I was pregnant with DD, I had my heart set on calling her Mackenzie. I was a teen mum, don't judge Blush. Thankfully my late father talked me out of it!

reefedsail · 09/04/2019 20:33

I was going to have a son called Dante.

JustAnotherMillennial · 09/04/2019 21:01

I convinced myself I was only going to have girls (which has happened) so I never thought of boys names.

As a teen back in the early 2000s I always wanted a daughter called Paige (I still like it now, and I have convinced DH it will be DD3 middle name).

Ashlee (girl) was another one I love, because it was my much older cousin's name who I idolised.

ClashCityRocker · 09/04/2019 21:16

I was adamant that my first child was going to be called Chance regardless of sex. In fact, I wanted to be called Chance and was most put out when my parents refused to call me it.

I also liked the name Levi.

KitchenDancefloor · 09/04/2019 21:20

My girls would have been named:
Alannah
Sorrel
Robyn
Sasha
Cassiopeia (Cassie for short- natch)
Andrea (nickname Andi with a heart above the i)

My boys' names, fuelled by adolescent hormones, would have been:
River
Keanu
Phoenix
Corey

It's a shame i didn't remember any of these for the shortlist when naming my real DC

MrsReader · 09/04/2019 22:30

About 10 years ago I loved Amelia and Noah

sweetsaltypopcorn · 10/04/2019 18:37

My best friend aged 15 wanted to name a future son Chad-Corey-Dylan! Grin
