What do you think of Everly for a girl?
Heard it some time ago and really struggling to find girls name to go with sibling Noah.
What do you think? Particularly like Everly Rose. Would call her Everly Rose on a day to day basis but not hyphenated it.
Thanks.

I'd think you'd accidentally left the 'B' off Wink

kittybee · 12/03/2019 21:32

I love it. Beautiful, and it goes well with Noah.

DramaAlpaca · 12/03/2019 21:35

Sorry, I was a bit cheeky in my first post Blush

What I should've said was that although it's not really my style I think it's a pretty name, especially with Rose, & would be nice with Noah.

ladybird69 · 12/03/2019 21:37

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT 😁 also quite like Aubrey Rose..it’s pretty and timeless, could be shortened to Evie ( if when aged 12 she’d want to change it for more grown up name)

64sNewName · 12/03/2019 21:38

I don’t really like it but I can’t quite articulate why.

I think it’s that it almost looks like a name based on an existing word, but Everly isn’t really a word (despite looking at first glance like an adverb) so there’s like a built-in moment of dissonance every time for me while I process that - which makes it irritating.

I appreciate that this is a highly subjective take Grin and if I could banish that reaction I’d think it was a perfectly nice name.

Brothers

Divgirl2 · 12/03/2019 21:41

I don't love it. In fact I don't even like it. Double barrelled first names are very council house princess where I'm from, and it's always Rose (or May/Mai).

Elodie has a similar sound and is much less "trendy"?

Champagnebrain · 12/03/2019 21:45

I think Noah is a classic name.
Everly looks made up. It's a bit...common sounding.
They don't go at all.

NannyR · 12/03/2019 21:46

First thing that comes to mind is "the everly brothers", I'm not keen on it personally - it sounds quite celeb/american to me. Evelyn (pronounced ever-lin) rose is a beautiful name with a very similar sound.

PuzzlingPuzzle · 12/03/2019 21:47

Since you asked, I really don’t like it. Everly seems like a trying quite hard to be different made up version of all the similar but popular names like Evie, Eva, Eve and Evelyn. Rose is a slightly dull but perfectly nice enough middle name but personally I really dislike 2 first names. The lack of hyphen doesn’t make it any better in my opinion since you plan on saying it as if it is hyphenated.

NerdyBird · 12/03/2019 21:47

There's an Everly in my DD's class. I think it's a lovely name. I wouldn't use it with Rose though, if you intend to generally use them together. It sounds like the beginning of a sentence 'Everly rose to the occasion... Everly rose from the table...'

Brothers

NuffSaidSam · 12/03/2019 23:50

It makes me think of Beverly or the Everly brothers.

It's too surnamey and try hard for me.

Noah is classic and lovely. Rose is nice too.

Noah and Rose.

Saffrona · 13/03/2019 00:42

Sorry I don’t like it. Perhaps you may like Evelyn...which I still don’t like!

I prefer Evangeline.
Or I agree with pp that rose is pretty and works well with Noah.

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 00:55

Hello darkness my old friend

ColeHawlins · 13/03/2019 00:56

Yeah, brothers. I'm humming now.

ElizabethMainwaring · 13/03/2019 01:02

Lovingbeniform, that's Simon and Garfunkel.
Everly sounds too much like heavily to me.

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 01:03

Noah is a very lovely name.
Everly should be a good name but too many connotations I’m afraid.

ElizabethMainwaring · 13/03/2019 01:04

Beniform?? Benidorm, sorry!

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 01:04

Oh the Shane Elizabeth!!!
Yes you’re right!
How about Claudette?

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 01:05

Shame, obviously 🙄

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 01:06

We’re as bad as each other 😏

ElizabethMainwaring · 13/03/2019 01:07

Ha ha!

Lovingbenidorm · 13/03/2019 01:08

Take the point of it sounding like ‘Heavily’
Certainly not if your surname is Bilt

brookshelley · 13/03/2019 01:09

I know a little girl called Everly and she is the cutest, sweetest child. Go for it!
