Chelsey or Chelsie?

Good evening!
So now DH and me are lingering between these two spellings, which we both love. We like Chelsey because it's kind of more mature and not that girly and cutesy. But the problem is, we feel like there's too many E's in this spelling, which sometimes really annoy us. And that leads us to our second choice: Chelsie. We love that how it ends in -ie, which will fit her as a little girl and a teenager for quite some time, and is still not that cutesy and childish when it comes to an adult.
So, that's basically our thought. What do you guys think? Which one should we go with? And why?

And please don't tell us that you prefer Chelsea better than any of these. We just want you guys' opinion on Chelsey and Chelsie, not Chelsea. If we like it, it would already be in the title and description.

Speaking as a parent of a child with a very normal name that gets mis-said more than mis-spelt and that she finds incredibly annoying when competing as the mis-pronunciation (its letters changed which gives a similar but less common name - eg Marie/Maria/Mary)comes booming over the tannoy and every thinks it's some other kid not her , which one is the more logical spelling and least likely to give your daughter grief /irritation when having to say/spell it over the phone or to other people?

I'm so sorry, but both those spellings are very cutesy. I like classy, classic names & no version of Chelsea fits that brief.

If I had to choose between the spellings I'd pick Chelsey, but only because it's slightly less twee/childish.

Are you in the US? I'm guessing so from the time of your post & your use of language. Different naming styles apply there so our opinions on a mainly UK website aren't really going to be relevant to you. You might be better off asking opinions on a US site.

I prefer Chelsey. Chelsie seems quite harsh to me although I might be biased, probably because my name ends in -y and I don't like it when people spell it with -ie! She's your baby girl and if this is the name you love them go for it!

Both names look misspelled to me (probably because they are!) Chelsie more so than Chelsey, which I have seen used in the US/Canada, although not in the UK. In general 'ie' endings are used for children as a diminutive so are more childish / cute than 'y' endings. I'm guessing that the OP has an objection to 'a' rather than 'e' as all three variations have two 'e's.

Have I missed something? Don't Chelsie and Chelsey both have two 'e's? It's not a name I'd use but of the two options I'd go for 'ie' I think.

Don’t like either, mostly due to the fact that I generally hate deliberately misspelled names. Both spellings seem cutesy to me.

Football team. Chelsea o Mahoney.. but also yes a lifetime of having to correct people on spellings. If you're in the USA my thoughts apply even less obviously but, do you want to subject your child to the spelling her name out all the time thing.

Both cutesy/ silly/ might even be thought of as “chavvy” in the U.K. but if you’re not in the U.K. it’s up to you .

Please just spell it properly.

My parents gave me a middle name with slightly odd spelling and I often feel like I'm clarifying the spelling. And that's just a middle name FFS!

Your daughter will spend her entire life correcting people.

Chelsie, Chelsey and the correct spelling Chelsea all have the same number of E's in them....

Chelsie is hideous. Chelsey is better. Chelsea is the best.

All are pretty awful though

Its a naff name however you spell it. And they have the same number of e's.
