Hi, we've been looking for a middle name that suits Meadow. Due to family connections we have been thinking Meadow Patricia. I'm not sure if this is too traditional for an untraditional name.

Middle names don't need to 'go'. Meadow Patricia is fine.

Quintella · 03/03/2019 11:04

I can't even remember the last time I had to say my full name aloud.

RhodaChrosite · 03/03/2019 11:04

Any thoughts on Lea (another word for a meadow or grassy area)?
Lea Elizabeth
Lea June

Joeybee · 03/03/2019 11:06

Totally not my style but I think it is a usable name. Love that you're honouring a family member with Patricia. It's a brave choice to use Meadow though, you will end up with some strange looks or comments. However nature names are for sure getting more popular and maybe the name won't seem unusual in a few years time.

Shadow1234 · 03/03/2019 11:07

Really love the name Meadow.
If Patricia is the most important family connection name, (as opposed to the others you mention), then I would definitely use it. Middle names are only really used on official documents, so wouldn't worry too much about them sounding good together.

Madbengalmum · 03/03/2019 11:40

I just think Sopranos.

DramaAlpaca · 03/03/2019 11:54

I quite like Meadow June. It sounds happy & summery.

Confusedbeetle · 03/03/2019 12:04

Try not to give a name schoolchildren will take the pee of

Supine · 03/03/2019 12:08

In my experience kids rarely bat an eyelid at anyone's name. They don't know which names are common and which are unusual. Meadow isn't even that unusual these days though.

Rafflesway · 03/03/2019 12:14

Meadow Fleur is gorgeous as suggested by RoseMartha but I also think Meadow Patricia is absolutely fine too.

Pennydreadful86 · 03/03/2019 18:58

I really like meadow especially meadow June

mondaysaturday · 04/03/2019 09:43

Meadow is gorgeous but if you're going to use it I'd ditch the idea of a middle name completely. It's not a name that lends itself to being paired with.

We chose a fairly unusual name for our daughter and decided that sticking it with a more "conventional" middle name made it sound ridiculous and picking a middle name with the same 'vibe' made it go from striking and pretty to just OTT. I think Meadow is in that kind of category.

somersetblue · 04/03/2019 12:51

I like Meadow and I also love Clover but my OH thinks they’re both too ‘out there’. I think Meadow is definitely up and coming. I’d say go for Patricia, names don’t always have to flow, I think it’s nice to have a middle name that means something to your family. I think a middle name is useful for identification and feeling more individual- especially if Meadow becomes more popular!

daisypond · 04/03/2019 13:12

Meadow Patricia is fine. They don't have to "go", especially if it's named after someone.

icanthelpyou · 04/03/2019 13:13

Sopranos

2chrissy · 04/03/2019 16:56

Thank you everyone. Very helpful. 😊

Funny that on the other thread people were very keen for the OP to give her daughter the middle name Denise for 'family reasons', yet here are advising the OP against Patricia.

They're both dated names that haven't yet become granny-chic. Neither goes with the first names the respective OPs were considering - but on the other thread all the MNers insisted that that didn't matter.

Phantology · 04/03/2019 17:13

Irrelevant I'd have thought unless the same people commented on both threads. MN is not a single being.

GrannyHaddock · 04/03/2019 19:10

Yes, it's the Sopranos. Doesn't chime with me, sorry.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 04/03/2019 20:33

Meadow Elizabeth is my fave of all of them!

Also love Meadow - really pretty and serene name. My DH would never go for it, but it’s on my “if we were brave enough” list! Go for it Smile

blueskiespls · 04/03/2019 21:50

There is a Meadow in dd's class (aged 7). She's a really sweet happy child. I like the name!

badg3r · 05/03/2019 21:51

Meadow Constance
Meadow Verity

That's the best I have! I like meadow just by itself though.

HighestMountains · 07/03/2019 15:16

Meadow is ridiculous, sorry. Patricia is a bit of a granny name, but fine for a middle name. I think -ley names gave meanings rekstubg to fields, e.g. Hayley, Beverley, Kimberley, Leigh maybe. I realise those are all a bit 70s/80s though.

snoringdoggo · 07/03/2019 21:31

Meadow Patti or patsy.

Actually maybe the Patti is too much like a meadow cow pat

ChampooPapi · 07/03/2019 21:33

I love Meadow, especially the supranos reference Smile
