Veronica?

What do you think of Veronica? And what middle names go well and sound classy and elegant? I was thinking of Veronica Faye or Veronica Jolie. But open to suggestions.

I am also wondering how this pairs with sister name Dahlia Laurenne? I need a name as equally feminine and strong. I dont like other D names (that I know of). I'm also not really hip to a lot of flower or nature names. Veronica is a plant but people dont really make that association at first so it came to mind as a winner with Dahlia. I dont like common flower names like Rose or Lily. I like Violette (spelled like this) but it's very popular so I'm kinda bleh. I like Ivy but dont think it works eith Dahlia. I'm open to suggestions but have already considered most the common flower and nature names on lists. I briefly considered Dianella but I think it sounds to close and I didnt love, love it.

Help :)

Not a fan of Veronica, has a harsh sound to me.

DramaAlpaca · 03/03/2019 11:52

I really dislike Veronica and all its diminutives.

OpiesOldLady · 03/03/2019 11:55

Doesn't do it for me op, sorry.

What about

Bryony
Verity
Erika
Frida

DuchessOfPhysics · 03/03/2019 11:59

I don't like it at all.
I like Vero, even Vera, but Veronica is very harsh.

Suggestions above of Erika Frida and Verity all have a similar feel but are less harsh imo.

Trinnidad · 03/03/2019 15:20

I was also going to suggest Briony as a plant name. Or how about:

Honesty
Marguerite
Marigold
Zinnia

Agapanthus (Aggie - if you're a Land Girls fan!).

If you don't want to go with plants but like your V names:

Virginia
Victoria
Villette
Genevieve
Evangeline

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/03/2019 15:41

Harsh frumpy and dowdy. However that's my opinion, not a fact.
If you like it go for it
Veronica Rose
Veronica Lucy
Veronica Josephine
Veronica Lily
Veronica Cecille
Veronica Isabelle
Veronica Evelyn
Veronica Blyth
Veronica Grace
Veronica Louise
Veronica Pearl
Veronica Edith
Veronica Dawn
Veronica Jasmine
Veronica Daisy
Veronica Judith
Veronica Beth
Veronica Beatrice

I hate the shortening to Ronnie!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/03/2019 15:46

I knew a Veronica at university who hated being nicknamed Ron or Ronnie, so on meeting new people she told everyone to call her `Knickers'. She was a great girl

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 03/03/2019 16:51

I have to admit I'm surprised at the reaction! But I have to disagree that I dont think it sounds dated or old fashioned. I actually feel like Veronica is a timeless, elegant name! It was never really on my radar before though - it reminds me of the gorgeous, rude girl in school! I've never seen Riverdale but did read the Archie comics a bit.

I like Veronica Faye but I have a few other new thoughts:

Veronica Faye
Aubrieta Amabelle
Jessamine Amalia
Violetta Madeleine
Juniper Natalia
Dayanara Natalie

Soon as i read that i thought of Veronica from Riverdale (netflix show). She gets called Ronnie or V. I like it!

Ribbonsonabox · 03/03/2019 16:54

I absolutely love it. Iconic name!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 03/03/2019 16:56

Veronica is lovely, or Veronique might be nice as you're not afraid of going for it name-wise? I've never even met a Dayanara!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/03/2019 17:00

I think it's great, a really strong and quite unusual name. Would make a change from all the Evas, Avas and Ivys around now.

I know three Ronnies (that is the inevitable shortening) - all women in their 50s to 70s. They are all lovely people, maybe that's why I like the name so much.

Supine · 03/03/2019 17:02

I love the Elvis Costello song. Bitter sweet.

BlueMerchant · 03/03/2019 17:02

Veronica Faye nn Ronnie.
It's not a name I would choose but goes well with other dds name. I like Alice.

Supine · 03/03/2019 17:03
Rachelhaydenberk1 · 03/03/2019 17:06

Dayanara is the only other D name I can find that I like as I'm trying to find a name that goes well with Dahlia! But it's very Latina and I'm very white!! Its stunning but I dont knkw if it works! I paired it with Natalie to kind of give it something more neutral. It's a stretch.

If I had to rank these:
Veronica Faye - I honestly am warming up to this a lot!
Aubrieta Amabelle - Aubrieta is also a plant and this is not a common name and it is elegant. I dont really like Brie names but I'm trying to be open. I never liked Amabella either for a first name but it works here as a middle? Or too many a's?
Violetta Madeleine - Violet is way, way popular right now but maybe this gives some distinction. I like Madeleine and I think it goes?
Jessamine Amalia - I kinda like Jessamine although NAF of Jess. I think Amalia or Amelia sounds good with it even though it's very common.
Dayanara Natalie - I do love this but dont think I can pull it off.
Juniper Natalia - people LOVE Juniper and I think it's okay but I dont love, love it. It reminds me of Jupiter.

What do you think?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 03/03/2019 17:17

I wont be calling her Ronnie as that is my male friend's name and that is too weird! I like Nika, or Vero or just Ver or V.

If she later on likes that nickname it's fine but it's not one I would really utilize.

ourkidmolly · 03/03/2019 17:41

There's loads of Veronicas or Weronikas around now as there's a much bigger Eastern European population here. I think it's more common than people realise for younger girls.

ourkidmolly · 03/03/2019 17:42

And compared to Dayanara or Juniper, I'd say it's a winner!

ataleoftwothenthreethenfour · 03/03/2019 17:44

I don't think it's elegant and timeless, really, it's not elegant like Vanessa, say, because it's quite a harsh sounding name, I guess some would call it strong. It also make me think of Eastern Europe or Germany, like PP. I think Jolie is weird as a name, but I also don't like Beau for a boy.

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 03/03/2019 17:44

Dahlia is such a lovely name. I think veronica might feel hard done by. Not nearly as pretty.

ataleoftwothenthreethenfour · 03/03/2019 17:44

That said, I do quite like it.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 03/03/2019 18:03

What else pairs with Dahlia Laurenne? I'm open to suggestions ;)

I also like Sienna a lot if that at all goes?

Verbena is a flower.
