Kit

I love Christopher for my baby boy (my dad's name), but he would be known as Kit. He could choose the version of his name that he prefers when he's older.

Husband not sold on it but I honestly can't think of any other names that I want to use. 13 weeks to go but still no shortlist

We already have a Harry

I love Kit, I would have used it but it doesn't go with our surname.

Patr1ckJane · 01/03/2019 11:38

I know a Kit. I thought it was a great nickname for Christopher. I’m so sad that DH has Veto christopher for us in the future

gambaspilpil · 01/03/2019 11:41

I wanted to call my last son Kit. (not christopher though just Kit)

Still one of my favourite names but we changed our mind as it didn't quite fit with the other DC names.

Kitsmummy · 01/03/2019 11:41

See my username, it's a fab name! Mine isn't a Christopher

WonkyDonk87 · 01/03/2019 11:46

DD would have been a Kit if she had turned out to be a DS. I'll be using it if we have a DS in the future. BIL is a Christopher but I like Kit as it is so will probably just register with that.

Skincaresos · 01/03/2019 11:48

I love Kit but was vetoed by DH. I wasn't going to use Christopher as a full name, just Kit ☺

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2019 11:57

It is fine. Probably very popular, but as you have a Harry ...
Go for it.
Christopher is a classic and gives the option of Chris too.

MercyBodle · 01/03/2019 12:19

Love it.

Beluga2019 · 01/03/2019 12:39

I like it but I know loads born in the last 2-3 years!

samanthajonespr · 01/03/2019 14:02

I'm glad people like it, it really is my favourite boys name. We named our Harry and then realised just how popular it is afterwards!

I'm not sure what middle name would go with it either, which is why husband is unsure. I think he doesn't want to set it in stone yet.

I have a Kit (short for Christopher). People always say they like it. I love it. DH wasn't keen and preferred Dylan. After the birth he said I could have whatever name I wanted! Go for it.

33goingon64 · 01/03/2019 14:14

His middle name is Albert (family name). I would have chosen Ewan but was overruled as I'd had my first name choice.

Jackshouse · 01/03/2019 14:46

I have heard of lots of little Kits recently.

GraceMarks · 01/03/2019 14:47

As long as your surname isn't Carr...

Flamingosnbears · 01/03/2019 15:49

Great choice if Christopher is on BC just so he has more choice if he wishes...

123Flopsy · 01/03/2019 16:18

Kit as in sports kit?

It's ok but I prefer Chris as nickname for Christopher or Christoph.

KitTheCat · 01/03/2019 16:20

Love it Wink

Whoops75 · 01/03/2019 16:21

Would never have linked Kit to Christopher.
It’s a bit of a stretch imo

GraceMarks · 01/03/2019 17:08

Whoops74 it's a very old, well-established nickname for Christopher. Kit Marlowe was doing it in the 16th century.

somersetblue · 01/03/2019 17:22

I actually like it but had to put in a message cos we have a family friend Kit age 12 who has refused to answer to Kit for the past two years, he now wants to be Christopher which is fortunately on his birth certificate. He says it’s a baby nn and I guess I see his point. I think it’s always safer to put the full name on just in case...

somersetblue · 01/03/2019 17:24

I’d also say just be aware it’s an on-trend name atm, if you don’t like Harry for that reason don’t go for Kit

MissBartlettsconscience · 01/03/2019 17:25

My DD is Kit - Katherine nn Kit by her school friends!

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 01/03/2019 17:25

Cute as a button

costacoffeecup · 01/03/2019 17:27

I've always liked it, even before Kit Harrington😀
