Timeless or dated?

I really like it. It’s on our list if we ever get lucky enough to have another baby.

A lot of people have said to me it’s old fashioned and they wouldn’t chose it but then again I wouldn’t pick the names they’ve used so each to their own

Boulardii · 01/03/2019 11:30

Great name. Don’t be tempted to change the spelling though.

Girlinthegarden · 01/03/2019 11:32

I love the name, classic but not very common. Beautiful.

kaytee87 · 01/03/2019 11:32

What do you all think of Sarah, Emma, Andrew & Matthew?

OP posts:
TeenTimesTwo · 01/03/2019 11:33

Timeless.

kaytee87 · 01/03/2019 11:33

Middle name Elizabeth / William

love it. we would have had a rachel if it didnt rhyme so obviously with our surname

GemmaXOX · 01/03/2019 11:36

Beautiful Name - Timeless!

youngestisapsycho · 01/03/2019 11:38

I like Sarah... for some reason I've never liked the name Emma.

Patr1ckJane · 01/03/2019 12:01

Sarah over Emma. Love both Andrew and Matthew

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/03/2019 12:13

I love it but do prefer the Rachael spelling. :)

MercyBodle · 01/03/2019 12:18

I'd say more timeless, though I think it does suffer a bit from having been extremely popular in the 80s. I love the Rachael spelling, but either way, good name.

MikeUniformMike · 01/03/2019 12:18

All the names you suggested are classic. A refreshing change.

Mummacake · 01/03/2019 12:21

My now 8yr old is called Rachel ❤. It wasn't a name on my radar at all but once I'd said it, it seemed to fit her perfectly. I think it's timeless.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2019 12:22

Dated. Nice enough though.

kaytee87 · 01/03/2019 12:36

I already have a James and we're ttc a second so I'm daydreaming a bit Smile
Nice to see people like the names I like though.

Unfortunately DH doesn't like Matthew, I can dream though Grin

I wondered if the 80s had killed Rachel. Funnily enough I only went to school with one Rachel despite being an 80s child myself.

My 14 yr old dd is a Rachel. It's a great name :)

PlinkPlink · 01/03/2019 12:42

Rachel is a lovely name, I think.

I'd love to use my grandma's names if I had a girl for no.2.

Daphne or Carmen

I think they're beautiful too.

Smoggle · 01/03/2019 12:44

Sarah, Emma, Rachel, Matthew, Andrew - think that was my primary school class in 1988 Grin

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2019 12:46

Rachel imo is similar to Amanda, Alison, Sarah, Catherine, all perfectly ok names but a bit yesteryear.

kaytee87 · 01/03/2019 12:46

@Smoggle Grin they have certainly been popular through the ages. I like safe, reliable names though!

Beautiful name. Can't beat a classic, biblical name.

DramaAlpaca · 01/03/2019 18:37

I like all your name suggestions.
