Leonor

I really love this name but not sure if it's too unusual? I prefer it to Eleonor or Leonora though quite like them too. Do you prefer spelling Leonor or Leonore and do you think they work in UK or would they be confusing and get misspelled or mispronounced?

I thought it was the fabric softener at first glance.

Greenteandchives · 23/02/2019 14:00

It looks like a masculine version of Leonora.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/02/2019 14:01

I love the name Leonore! I much prefer it with the -e on the end, it softens the 'look' of the name ever so slightly, iyswim; I think 'Leonor' looks a little harsh and somehow incomplete...

BillywigSting · 23/02/2019 14:01

Sorry made me think of fabric softener first too. Then Edgar Alan Poe.

It's the name of one of the Spanish princesses (no e on the end)

BlueMerchant · 23/02/2019 14:06

Really don't like it. It seems quite masculine. Prefer Leonora but don't like either. Eleanor ok but wouldn't Eleonor.

Shadow1234 · 23/02/2019 14:07

Sorry, but also thought of fabric softener.

Blueuggboots · 23/02/2019 14:07

Do you mean Leona?

EspressoX10 · 23/02/2019 14:14

Thousands in Spain and Portugal with that exact same spelling. I think it would be a pain in the UK though.

She'd have to spell it all her life.

AlexaShutUp · 23/02/2019 14:19

Sorry, I thought of fabric softener as well.

Pishogue · 23/02/2019 14:21

I have a German friend called Leonore, and have always rather liked it -- I would use the e at the end, though, if you're in an Anglophone country.

icanthelpyou · 23/02/2019 14:25

Yep fabric softener

DramaAlpaca · 23/02/2019 15:59

I think it needs the extra 'e' on the end, tbh, Leonore.

Quintella · 23/02/2019 16:07

Definitely needs the E at the end, otherwise it does look like the fabric softener.

mumm321 · 23/02/2019 17:38

Horrible

daisypond · 23/02/2019 18:24

I prefer Leonore with the E on the end too if you're in the UK. It's a nice name. But Leonor is fine if you've got Spanish roots, etc.

Susannach · 23/02/2019 19:37

Beautiful! I think I slightly prefer it without the -e but both are stunning.

Refilona · 23/02/2019 19:38

It’s a common name in Spain and Portugal, very pretty.

nqtomg · 23/02/2019 19:40

I love it! There's a Spanish Princess Leonor and a Swedish Princess Leonore, I believe, so she'd be in regal company Smile

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 23/02/2019 19:40

Spain will have a queen Leonor so maybe the spelling will become more known?

GrannyHaddock · 23/02/2019 21:15

What about Leonie?

MercyBodle · 24/02/2019 07:25

I think Leonor is lovely. I'm familiar with the name and spelling because of the Spanish princess. More tailored and stylish than Leonore/Leonora/Eleonore.

Zampa · 24/02/2019 07:30

Almost totally outing as it's such an unusual name (4 born a year, I think) but I have one (with an e) so I love the name. Mine is named after the heroine in Fidelio.

We get so many compliments on the name so ignore the haters.

I've noticed a few threads on the name though so wonder if it's increasing in popularity.

bubblegumbottles · 24/02/2019 07:34

I know a Leonore, lovely name.
Definitely think of fabric conditioner without the E though.
