Am I being totally ridiculous considering the name Bear for DS? Blush

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chipsandpeas · 22/02/2019 19:09

yes as its awful

Beetlewing · 22/02/2019 19:11

The trouble with fashionable names is that they go out of fashion. Bear was fashionable a few years ago so now it seems really dated. What about Bruno? It means bear and is a recognised human child's name

3timeslucky · 22/02/2019 19:12

Yep. Use it as a pet name, a term of endearment but do not inflict it on him as an actual name.

FissionChip5 · 22/02/2019 19:13

Don’t do it, pregnancy hormones making you not think right.

Letthemysterybe · 22/02/2019 19:14

Yes it’s a bit silly. I love the suggestion of Bruno.

Theunreasonableone · 22/02/2019 19:14

Would you really want to be associated with naming your child after Cheryl TweedyColeFandangoVermicelliPayne’s (even if you’re not, it’s what people with think)

Bigonesmallone3 · 22/02/2019 19:15

I like it but it's not a birth certificate name..

amrscot · 22/02/2019 19:15

@Theunreasonableone ha that's true but I still love the name Sad

Even liked it before I got pg

merrybloomizoothief · 22/02/2019 19:16

It's really fucking stupid

JasonGideon · 22/02/2019 19:18

We call my daughter Bear as a nickname. We obviously use her real name as real but I do get some odd looka when we call her Bear as people assume we have copied Cheryl.

Wolfiefan · 22/02/2019 19:18

It’s lovely for a dog. Blush

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2019 19:18

I really like it. I like it so much I named my cat Bear. I now feel silly having a cat called a Bear.

You might feel silly having a child named Bear. You might not.

It would be a fabulous middle name.

TheseThingsAreFunAndFunIsGood · 22/02/2019 19:19

Yes it's bloody silly, and I say that as someone who's given their DS the nickname Bear! Maybe find a name that either means bear or for which bear can be used as a nickname?

MissBartlettsconscience · 22/02/2019 19:19

Bear Gryll's actual name is Edward.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 22/02/2019 19:19

Teddy?

saj90 · 22/02/2019 19:20

I don't think it's awful...but I know some people who have named their dogs Bear...

GinaCarbonara · 22/02/2019 19:20

I know a Bear. He's great. It also depends where you live- the Bear I know lives in an area where that name wouldn't really get a second look. Where you live might be different.

AriadneCrete · 22/02/2019 19:21

I think it’s awful. Don’t do it.

LynetteScavo · 22/02/2019 19:22

Having said what I just did...DD has a middle name I didn't dare give her as a first name, because it would have been seen as silly and ridiculous. I wish I'd given it to her as a first name.she could have map pulled it off and would have been the only one in her school class

TinTinBanana · 22/02/2019 19:24

I love it but would never use it in real life.

Topseyt · 22/02/2019 19:24

I really wouldn't. I actually find it ridiculous.

Or use it as a middle name. Have Edward as his first name, so then he can be Teddy Bear.

Parthenope · 22/02/2019 19:25

It's beyond awful. It's like calling your child Sloth or Wombat, plus it reminds me of a man best known for drinking his own wee on TV.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/02/2019 19:26

It's ridiculous, it's always been ridulous.
Don't do it.

Kirdypurdy14 · 22/02/2019 19:29

My cat is called bear I honestly would never choose it for a child. My cat looks like a bear so name stuck not for a child tho

AuntieCJ · 22/02/2019 19:30

It isn't a name. Dreadful thing to lumber a child with. He will hate you when he's a teenager and you will deserve all the grief he gives you.
