Boy & Girl name ideas for new baby business

keetee83 · 15/02/2019 13:05

Hi guys,

Looking for some inspiration for a new baby-related business (can't give too much away just now) - but initial thoughts were for a boy and girl combo, but most of the ones we like have been taken (Tilly & Max, Lottie & Oscar)

Any suggestions welcome!

p.s. There may well be a lovely free gift (around £30 value, baby/toddler related) in it for someone if we do chose a name from this thread!

There's a womenswear shop a few towns away called Harry & George which are the names of the (v little!) sons of the two ladies that run it, and that type of link seems quite common. I think if you go for branding of that type people will expect you to have a connection to the names you've chosen rather than "we thought it was cute/catchy".

Also I see so many of these type of brand names through sponsored posts on FB and Instagram that they all merge into one for me- you've said yourself a lot of the good ones are taken. None of them are particularly memorable.

If you must do it I'd go for your grannies' names or something similar. Or use one name like (for example) "Flossie's Wardrobe/Garden/Room" and create a character to suit, and use that throughout your marketing material.

If you're going to use 2 names they should really have a meaning to you, or it doesn't really make sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

Don’t you put a bunch of people off? They’re very white-British names.,

You might as well just call it Blah & Yawn if you’re going to use any of the suggestions on this thread because honestly thats what they all are and will be when mixed in with all the others of the same format. It’s so unoriginal now. Try standing out. You’ll need to if you want to stand any chance of having a successful business.
