I thought of this lovely girls name today so thought I would share as I've never heard it as a name or even suggested as a name.

It would also be a lovely middle name.

I knew a male Tree when I worked at a bookstore, years ago. He was gorgeous. Tall, mixed (black and white) beautiful green eyes, amazing smile and so sweet, nurturing and sensitive.

I think it's great for a girl or a boy. People tend to grow into their names, so I would not be surprised if your daughter grew into the female version of the Tree I knew. Smile

Congratulations! Flowers

It’s not ‘unusual’, it’s bonkers.

I think parents who like names that are very unusual or outlandish should change their own name to it for the length of the pregnancy. If they still love it they can decide whether to keep it themselves or give it to their child.

No one is cruel enough to bestow such a ridiculous name on a child, surely!?

Grow in to the name 'tree'. Yeah, right op. It's quite a nice day, how about a walk?

The OP never mentioned that, I did.

Btw, I do love to walk and it is a nicely, albeit a bit chilly. Midsomer Murders is one of my favourite shows, btw, so I love your username! Smile

Really in to nature names (thinking of River for my son), but tree doesn't sound quite right. A name of a tree would probably sound better (Cherry, Holly, Hazel etc).

I love River. I wouldn’t/ couldn’t use it (I come across a bit prissy and uptight), but I love River and “Riv”

Not Tree, but how about Tiree? It's a Scottish island, occasionally used as a first name in Scotland.

Only ever heard it as a NN for Teresa.

As it Teresa Green?

If you want a tree name then go for something like Ivy.

Does anyone remember the Harry Enfield show? And “tree, car, baby Jesus”. Came to mind as how stupid a name tree is 😂

If you like foresty tree names, how about Sylvia? It means 'of the forest'. When you look in to a lot of names their meanings are rooted in nature (sorry for the pun!), So just do a search online and you might find something that appeals (I almost used the word 'sticks' there which would have been another pun!)

I think this son is probably going to end up with a nature name (first son named after a type of tree) whether I like it or not. Trying to come up with something more tame (although not keen on old traditional names myself), but OH not having any of it! I think we will just go with what he likes (forest, river) at the last minute, as I'm rather uninspired!

You will always get people who think calling your child something other than the top 100 is child cruelty. FWIW, I have what was regarded as an 'out there' hippy name as a child which is now in the top 100, probably. It really hasn't stopped me getting a job and at the time, I only really got stick off adults who thought it was a bit strange that I wasn't called Sarah like the other 5 girls in my year. I really like having a different name and nobody really seems to care these days.
