Due ds 2 in 3 months and we are undecided on a name, these are dp and I favourites. Opinions?

Sorry, I don't like either of them. However, if you and your DP do, then you shouldn't let the opinions of strangers on the internet put you off.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 27/01/2019 11:16

i like ayden

PrincessPeachy1 · 27/01/2019 11:23

Thank you, Ayden is my choice. I’m really not convinced on Conlin but dp came across it whilst searching thru baby name sites one evening and loves it. I’d never ever heard it before so feel rather unsure!

Conlin looks like a bizarre misspelling of Colin. Colin sounds like a 55 year old gold enthusiast...

RagingWhoreBag · 27/01/2019 11:27

Can’t you go with Aiden to save the poor kid a lifetime of “Ayden with a Y” - “Yaiden?!” jokes. My friend “Karyn (with a Y)” got called Yaren more often than you’d like to think (including by me when we first met, hence realising just how annoying that joke must be by her reaction to it!)

Conlin just looks like a typo for Colin, so as long as you’re ok with your DS being called Colin, go for it.

tammytoby · 27/01/2019 11:38

I prefer Conlin. It sounds strong and masculine

daisypond · 27/01/2019 11:59

I'm not keen on either. Are either names? Ayden looks like you can't spell Aidan (which is a great name). Conlin is a surname, anglicised but of Irish origin.

PrincessPeachy1 · 27/01/2019 12:25

Of course they are names Hmm

Ayden is only a version of an Islamic name Aydin (lots of other spellings too), which might be odd if you're not Muslim. Conlin is only an anglicised surname. Maybe OK if you've got Irish connections.

PrincessPeachy1 · 27/01/2019 12:38

To be honest I’ve heard of more than a couple of boys called Ayden and one girl and have never considered it a Muslim name? I’ve seen various different spellings of it too

I like the way both of them sound, but I find the spellings strange - like a mangling of Aidan & Conlan, which are both perfectly nice Irish names.

midsomermurderess · 27/01/2019 12:57

Of all the names in all the world these are are the two you settle on?

PrincessPeachy1 · 27/01/2019 13:00

Not necessarily, I like Ayden/Aidan not bothered about the spelling. Dp is just so set on Conlin but I’m really not sure. When I text it to my friend she actually thought it was Colin, she said she had to look again and this puts me off as I really don’t like the name Colin! Blush

Back to the drawing board I guess!

Ayden looks like you've dropped the 'h' on Hayden, to me. Aiden or Aidan would be much better.

Conlin is weird, sorry.

weegiehere · 27/01/2019 13:23

What about Conal?

MikeUniformMike · 27/01/2019 13:55

Don't like either. The spelling Aidan or Aiden is better and I think the surname is Conlon or Conlan.

bananaramaspyjamas · 27/01/2019 17:49

Aiden is quite nice. Really don't like Conlin, sorry. Sounds like a made up name. Or as pp said, misspelling of Colin.

Mrstwiddle · 27/01/2019 17:54

Never heard of the second name and don’t like it. Aydan is a bit chavvy.

EngagedAgain · 27/01/2019 17:59

Aiden is the best. Colin (yes I mean Colin) is a nice name but out dated now.

SuperSuperSuper · 27/01/2019 18:01

Aiden definitely.

Good luck with the birth.

Jsmith99 · 27/01/2019 18:07

I agree with others. Ayden looks like you can’t spell, and the poor kid would go through life with everyone assuming his parents were incapable of spelling a reasonably common five letter name correctly.

Conlin looks odd. Again the poor kid would go through life explaining “no, not Colin, Conlin. Two Ns. C-O-N-L-I-N.”

Sophronia · 27/01/2019 18:38

Aidan, this spelling.

tammytoby · 27/01/2019 18:50

But there aren't many young Colins to get mixed up with.

MartaHallard · 27/01/2019 18:57

Aidan, this spelling.

Definitely. Aidan is a perfectly good name, why mess with the spelling?
