Was set on Matilda but its getting quite popular.....
What do you think about the name Pippa?
Its a female diminutive of a name of someone where important to me.
Thanks :-)

Zombie thread alert 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

My fault- I was seeing if OP could update us

I would go with Phillipa and use Pippa as a diminutive. Can you imagine a 28 year old executive in a big corporation being called Pippa? Cute on a little girl but no so on an adult wanting to be taken seriously.

yellowallpaper · 07/01/2020 16:02

As someone with a long birth name with lots of diminutives and variations, I would say have a longer name because you can reinvent yourself several times over, depending on mood! My 'baby' name didn't suit me as I got older and now I have a modern current name.

NoSauce · 07/01/2020 16:14

Omg no please don’t. It is slang for several awful things in different parts of the world, like vagina and blowjob

Different parts of the world? Where?

Presumably the OP is from the UK??

And yes I know it’s a bloody zombie.

ilovechocolatebiscuits · 07/01/2020 16:21

I like Pippa... I wouldn't use the longer version though I hate it😂

PlantPotting I am delighted to announce that my little girl arrived safe and sound and is named Primrose Matilda Smile I absolutely fell in love with Primrose and it suits her perfectly.

ThinkPink71 · 07/01/2020 20:21

I love it!

PlantPotting · 07/01/2020 20:52

@heartoftheocean2 Thank you so so much for updating us , congratulations!! Lovely name. 🥰

Glad you kept Matilda in there as you kept coming back to it! Perfect!

Where did you get the name Primrose? Was it a Mn suggestion or from elsewhere xx

benandhollyagaaain · 07/01/2020 21:17

It doesn't travel well in Europe... Many rude and unfortunate meanings that would rule it out for me

SashayThatWay · 07/01/2020 21:55

All these rude translations... Thank god nobody is named (or nicknamed) Dick, Roger or Fanny eh?

benandhollyagaaain · 08/01/2020 09:00

I don't think you'd meet many people named Dick or Fanny these days for that very reason. Roger isn't so bad. But I definitely wouldn't want to name my daughter something that translates to blowjob!

NoSauce · 08/01/2020 09:05

Unless you’re Greek and spell Pippa - Pipa, there isn’t an issue.
