I don't think Hunter is unusual, I know two. Also Jax I think it's becoming fairly popular. I've met a few.

Rocco- at baby clinic, sorry but it's absolutely awful
Fox
Ophelia (a friends child, I think it's lovely)
Juniper
Olive

I did come across someone who had two children called, "Blaze and Scarlett". They were lovely kids.

frogface69 · 27/01/2019 03:14

Oak and Toadie. Two little boys.

CocoLoco87 · 27/01/2019 03:53

I'd only heard of Aspen on MN but last week I heard it in real life. Little girl was 2.

FairfaxAikman · 27/01/2019 10:00

Chaim...not sure about the spelling, but it sounds like "chain" except with an M at the end.

I'm guessing they'd only ever seen it written down? It's pronounced note like Ky-m (with a Scottish roll-at-the-back-of-the-throat sort of sound at the start)

My daughters class has a few strange ones:

Gunner
Boy
Phoenix
Will.I.Am (pronounced Willam)
Dakota
Beyoncé

And I live in a middle class town, where names are usually quite traditional 🙄

Theunreasonableone · 27/01/2019 10:53

Oak and Toadie. Two little boys.

Are these the boys on Our Family on Cbeebies? If so their names are Oak and Bodhi but in our family we call them Oaf and Toadie Grin

tammytoby · 27/01/2019 11:20

Gunnar is a fairly normal name in Germany

C0untDucku1a · 27/01/2019 17:33

How near 30 is Fred? How long ago was Angel on tv? I actually had winifred on my list

Fuzzywig · 27/01/2019 17:48

Pebbles

This was about 10 years ago but the oddest name I have heard.

Also..

Raspberry

It's been said before but these threads often do turn into "let's laugh at the African names"

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 27/01/2019 18:32

Hey, at least we've blessedly escaped L-a, whyvoanee, Femarlee and Chlamydia so far.

Thor. His dad is Scandinavian so apparently not that unusual

TitilatedOcelot · 28/01/2019 09:28

@BellMcEnd SmileShe does have v red hair, so I assume that's the reason for the name, rather than being the naughtiest girl in the world!

nocluenoidea · 28/01/2019 10:10

A few names mentioned on this thread, like Piper and Hunter are massively popular here in Australia so it's funny seeing you list them as 'unusual' 😂. My dd's friend is called Piper and I think Hunter was number 15 last year in popularity, though to me it does just sound like a Gladiator.

Here's some of my local 'weird' ones;
Soren
Taj
Sorrel
Alaska
Sydney (for an Australian girl 🙈)
Cherry (only a middle name but still...)

Giraffetower · 28/01/2019 11:16

I am racking my brains as to who I only know one of! ( lots of "unusual" names on this list, but I know lots of them!)

Boys:

Rex
Ragnor
Stirling
Casper
and Ralph ( pronounced ralf)

Girls:
Cassandra
Carys
Violet
Marjorie
Portia

I only know 1

Ambrose
Shanti
Eliezer
Song

daisypond · 28/01/2019 12:31

Nothing odd about Gal - it's a Hebrew girl's name. I know a ten-year-old one.

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 12:34

Pete Doherty's son is called Astile, think he's a teenager now

Shock

I'd have guessed he was about seven!
