Baby here, arrived fast and 3 weeks early. No names picked out. DH wants Wren. What do folk think?

I like either classic/ old lady or modern unusual (Persephone, Ophelia, Ada, Eden).

We haven't announced it yet and are currently giving it a try.

Beautiful, Strong, Sweet, Unique, Absolutely love it! It's a winner imo!

Congratulations! For you, Flowers Smile

How about calling her Florence with (W)Ren for short, as PP said? I do think Wren is a bit naff. Might have been OK as a unique name once, but it's two a penny now. Eden seems like a nice compromise between your DH and your style of names. Mavis? Means song thrush and it's old lady chic.

straightouttavagina · 19/01/2019 15:58

Serendipity? Then Wren as nn. If she doesn't like it or it doesn't suit her, she could go by Serrie or the full name.

Jiggins · 19/01/2019 16:03

Renée is lovely, with Ren as an obvious shortening.

MrsBertBibby · 19/01/2019 16:15

don’t call her after a bird.

Why? Flowers and trees are acceptable.

Although perhaps no tits. Or choughs.

blueskiesandforests · 19/01/2019 16:20

It sounds incredibly fragile to me. I'd never name a baby after something fragile or delicate.

Endofrelationship · 19/01/2019 16:21

Issue is we know loads of Florence's and Eden's.

Ren is OK for boys or girls but I don’t like Wren.

I like Wrens but they are tiny, fragile prey birds. No one would consider using it for a boy so why for a girl?

SandysMam · 19/01/2019 16:24

I love the name Juniper for a little girl Flowers congrats on your baby.

kalefire · 19/01/2019 16:27

.... & stimpy

Comes to my mind.

Roomba · 19/01/2019 16:42

I really like it.

I met a baby Lark recently too and thought what a lovely name (while we're on a bird theme!)

Roomba · 19/01/2019 16:46

Wrens are only overlooked or thought nondescript by people who don't bother to look or listen. Tiny, incredibly distinctive shape with their lovely upright tail, and LOUD! We have one living just outside, and he wakes us up some mornings singing at full blast on top of the bird box. Incredible volume for such a tiny bird.

I know! We have one nearby and it wakes DS2. He wanted to know what bird it was so we spent a while listening to different bird calls online. As soon as I played the Wren one he said that's it! And now we notice them when we're out and about as they sound very distinctive.

SleepWarrior · 19/01/2019 16:50

I'm afraid I really don't like it. It just screams BIRD at me in a way that Robin and most flower names don't.

I know a Rena (renn-uh) though and think that's lovely.

luckythirteen · 19/01/2019 19:52

How about Kerensa nn Ren/Wren?

Ngaio2 · 19/01/2019 21:17

Why not research more classical names?
What about Cressida or its older form Cryseyde (Chris — aid).
Penelope
Hermione etc

cheesydoesit · 19/01/2019 21:59

I love it. It was a contender for DD but I had a wobble worrying about its recent surge in popularity and that it would seem faddy in the future so we used it as a middle name.

starkid · 19/01/2019 22:00

I like it :)

LunaFortuna · 19/01/2019 22:03

Congratulations 🎉
I know a Wren - beautiful name.

pineapplebryanbrown · 19/01/2019 22:13

Looks pretty but sounds ugly, sorry.

How about Nancy if you like old lady names?

Caroline if classic.

amyk91 · 19/01/2019 22:16

Amytis. Pronounced amitis.
Its such a beautiful name,

amyk91 · 19/01/2019 22:18

Oriana.
Blayke
Amytis
Skye

Shadow1234 · 19/01/2019 23:04

I think it's a lovely name.

feejee · 19/01/2019 23:11

It's my surname, the only thing i'd say is she'll have a lifetime saying 'Wren, spelt like the bird' as people are writing/typing Ren.

RosiePosies · 19/01/2019 23:16

Love it, one of our options is Serenna and Wren for short.

Harebellmeadow · 19/01/2019 23:19

How about Jenny?
