Boys name similar to Kit?

Namehelpplease1985 · 14/01/2019 21:02

Baby boy is due is a week and still has no name.

I love Kit, but I don't want Christopher or Christian and not sure that it works as a standalone name? I also like Gus, but having similar issues with not liking long versions so much

We both wanted Ezra the whole pregnancy but we've gone off it now.

We've got 2 girls already with 'old style' names so don't want anything too out there.

Any ideas?

Kit is a great name in its own right. Particularly if you have a lengthy surname. Christian is also a great name, but I know you're not keen. Chester?

We're probably using just 'Kit' as a stand alone name. I love it as it is.

my dd knows a "Kit" at preschool. Everyone calls him Kit, and I assumed it was his full name, but noticed the other day on his peg it says "Beckett" and thought what a cool/classy name! Plus if he doesn't like to be known as Kit when he's older he could go by "Beck" instead, so keeps the options open.

I know a guy called Cotter. Think is Irish/Scandinavian and not unheard of in the USA.

HairyToity · 14/01/2019 22:36

I know an 8 year old Gus. Love the name.

I think Kit works as a standalone name.

What about Benn? With the double n.

Also Sebastian is a versatile name, and the shortened version "Seb" is really strong sounding. And Sebby is a great nickname.
Rupert with nn "Roo" is also one of my faves with a 3 letter nickname.
Phillip with nn "Pip".
Sidney with nn "Sid"

Jed, Ned or just Kit if you like it!

Kenneth at a push could become Kit.
I do like Kit but I'd use it as a nickname not use it on its own. It could easily become Kitty or Kitkat and to come 80s children Kit the car!

Just use Kit. Its a great name.

Agree with PPs about Jem, too. Usually short for Jeremy, but could be used as stand alone name.

EdtheBear · 14/01/2019 23:32

What about Kurt ?

MumUnderTheMoon · 14/01/2019 23:32

It can be spelt Kitt which for some reason makes me see it as more of a first name than a nn
