I've just seen this suggested on another thread and wondered what the consensus is? Blos/Blossy for short?

No please don't!
Reminds me of the power puff girls

villainousbroodmare · 05/12/2018 18:55

Not just a flower name but a generic, unidentified flower. It's a no from me.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 05/12/2018 18:56

Sorry Op, but it's a lovely name for a pony not a child.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/12/2018 18:57

Against the grain I love it

mumtobe2019 · 05/12/2018 18:57

I like it!

ElizabethMainwaring · 05/12/2018 18:58

My rabbit's name.

ernjas · 05/12/2018 18:58

I also quite like it.

ooodile · 05/12/2018 18:58

It's a really pretty name, but immediately makes me think of either the PowerPuff Girls or Blossom Russo from that awful 90s show.

Ropeynigel · 05/12/2018 18:59

I think it's cute.

GreyHare · 05/12/2018 19:00

I had a dog called Blossom, it suited her very well, but for a child no, just no.

BabarKingoftheElephants · 05/12/2018 19:08

I had a lovely primary school teacher who used to call us Blossom, as a term of endearment. Because of this I have a soft spot for the name. However I don't think I would actually use it for a baby.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 05/12/2018 19:08

I think a good test is would you like to be named Blossom? I wouldn’t, I’d feel a bit silly every time I introduced myself to someone new.

Wolfiefan · 05/12/2018 19:09

Great for a pet. Too twee for a grown woman.

Moominfan · 05/12/2018 19:19

Never take down the patriarchy with a name like that

BumbleDevon · 05/12/2018 19:40

@Moominfan I don't know, I always though the Pankhursts had rather fanciful names (Christabel?).

Blossom is not nearly as nice as the other flower names like Rose, Rosa, Lily, Iris, etc. Flora is also much nicer, I think.

Phebes · 05/12/2018 22:09

No from me I’m afraid. Too wishy-washy, and I think Bloss/Blossy are hideous. Sorry!

waterlego6064 · 05/12/2018 22:14

I knew a twenty-something Blossom for a short time. She was very ethereal and very cool!

PurpleDaisies · 05/12/2018 22:15

Blossom is ok, sort of.

Bloss/Blossy are dreadful.

Ohyesiam · 05/12/2018 22:16

Too cute

ScrambledSmegs · 05/12/2018 22:18

It's kind of...bovine?

Sorry.

HappyGoLuckyGo · 05/12/2018 22:18

Err, no. Definitely too twee...

DramaAlpaca · 05/12/2018 22:18

Good grief no. It's only suitable for a domestic animal, it'd be horrendous on a person.

BackforGood · 05/12/2018 22:20

For a horse, I think you could get away with it.
For a person, no.

NonaGrey · 05/12/2018 22:20

Screams 90s sit com to me.

I suspect the nickname Blossy would very quickly become Bossy.

Andvhinestly would you like to be called “Blos”?

barnacharmer · 05/12/2018 22:21

We used it as a middle name. DD loves the meaning of it
