Love this name... but what if the birth date isn't in August?!

It’s fine, it means wise or something I think. I know a lovely August.

drying · 27/11/2018 19:29

What on Earth would the nn be?

Sidandbump · 27/11/2018 19:30

Gus

ernjas · 27/11/2018 19:33

Don't think they'd have to be born in August and love Gus as a nn!

OneTwistedAngel · 27/11/2018 19:42

Auggie is another cute nn for August

Messalena · 27/11/2018 20:00

Love it! Auggie, Gus or even Ozzy for short.

BumbleDevon · 27/11/2018 20:04

The month is named after a person (Augustus), so why not.

Gus is a cute nn.

Princesspeachy0 · 27/11/2018 20:14

Love Gus as a NN

ZebraKid71 · 27/11/2018 20:19

I think all the nicknames are great. I think it's a brilliant name. And I actually think month names only work if the person is NOT born in that month.

RedDwarves · 27/11/2018 20:53

I think it's fine. I wouldn't look twice at a May or June not born in May or June, so it's no different.

I like Gus as a shortening.

MikeUniformMike · 27/11/2018 21:05

Not even if born in August. Augustus or Augustine are fine and Gus is ok as a nn.

Sophronia · 27/11/2018 23:51

I like Augie (don’t think it needs the extra g)

drying · 28/11/2018 08:45

I can't help thinking of gusset.

I like it best when child is not born in August. Great name!

Bluerussian · 28/11/2018 09:17

No, deffo not. What do people call her, "Aug", or (worse) "Org"?

Why choose such an 'out there' name.

If you must go with the 'August' theme, why not Augusta? It sounds quite classy and you could bring it back in vogue. There will be the same diminutives, plus 'Gussie' of course.

It's beyond me why people don't give their children ordinary names that will not go out of fashion & what does it matter, really, if lots of others have the same: Charlotte, Emily, Sarah, Rachel, Stephen, James, Jeremy, David & Nicholas. You can't go wrong with any of them, at least they won't be embarrassed about their name when they are at school

Love, Chardonnay-Jade xx

^^ this post is a joke, right?Hmm

Princesspeachy0 · 28/11/2018 16:20

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 28/11/2018 16:26

Bit random if not born on August IMO

Unknownunknowns · 28/11/2018 19:36

I've a friend June who was born in April, and a friend May who was born in August. So why not?

FranciscoGoya · 28/11/2018 23:58

I didn't even know people considered when the baby was born when choosing names like April, May, June, Summer, etc. until I started posting on Mumsnet.

I've known a Summer and a May and I never had any desire to ask them when their birthdays were.

tofupanda · 29/11/2018 00:03

Might be called Gusty for short which could be a bit awkward. Augusta is nice though

jjemimapuddleduck · 29/11/2018 00:04

Love this name after reading 'Wonder!

RCohle · 29/11/2018 00:06

I think it's a pretty hideous name even if born in August to be honest.

Hmmmbiscuits · 29/11/2018 11:26

Is this for a boy or girl? Augustus sounds a bit more boy like and moves away from having to be born in August.

There are lots of girls called April, May and June who probably weren't born in those months.

This is coming from someone with a time of year name.

daisypond · 29/11/2018 18:04

Is it for a boy or a girl? Child does not need to be born in August either way.
