my beautiful baby girl was born six days ago and is still nameless! my partner is happy for me to choose the name so here i am asking for help. i’m thinking maybe a historical name? maybe a strong female from history? the names we liked are georgiana, evangeline, and lola - but none of them are sticking out to us now! her middle name will be charlotte, and we’ll maybe squeeze poppy in there as she was born on armistice day. any suggestions are welcome - doesn’t need to be historical!

One of dd's friends is named Emmeline after Emmeline Pankhurst and is known as Emmie. I think both the long and short versions sound pretty.

Eleanor (Roosevelt)
Rosa (Parks, Luxembourg)
Emmeline (Pankhurst)

Lileth. The first woman. She was so much trouble that she got kicked out of Eden. Which is why Eve was made from one of Adams bones, so she wouldn't be so much trouble. Ha!

Mary. As in Mary Shelley.

Mary Charlotte is lovely and I absolutely love the idea of Poppy because of her birthday!!

There's also Maya, Eleanor, Katherine.

helpmum2003 · 17/11/2018 17:14

Emmeline NN Emmie would be fab it's 100 years since (some) women got vote. Love the Poppy idea as well and Charlotte.

OwlDoll · 17/11/2018 17:23

Constance (Markievicz), the first woman elected to Westminster.

Biscuitsneeded · 17/11/2018 17:25

Eleanor (Roosevelt or of Aquitaine), Mary (Seacole or Wollstonecraft), Rosa (Parks), Nancy (Astor), Edith (Cavell), Emmeline, Sylvia or Christobel (Pankhurst), Elizabeth. And yes I think you should definitely get Poppy in there as a middle name given your DD's birthdate! Congratulations xx

AliCanTea · 17/11/2018 17:28

Flora (Sandes) would fit your Armistice theme well
Or:
Edith (Appleton/Cavell)
Dorothea (Crewdson)

userabcname · 17/11/2018 17:39

Marie (Curie), Ada (Lovelace), Rosa (Parks).
Or royalty - Victoria, Elizabeth?
Or authors - Jane (Austen), Emily (Bronte), Virginia (Woolf), Sylvia (Plath), Louisa (May Alcott).
Fwiw I love Georgiana!

Nacmonalds · 17/11/2018 18:40

Elizabeth after Elizabeth Garrett Anderson - the first woman in Britain to qualify as a doctor. She had to learn French and go to university in Paris because no British medical school would admit her.

Nacmonalds · 17/11/2018 18:41

I’m a big fan of Georgiana though x
