Darcey/Darcie

First name is set and will not change. The name is: Matilda.
Was going to use Rose as a middle name but very overused and some negative associations.
Have always loved the name Darcey/Darcie but unsure how to spell.

So which spelling would you choose and why?

Matilda Darcie
Matilda Darcey

Many thanks :-)

Darcey. Darcie looks overly cutesy to me.

RCohle · 12/11/2018 23:28

I would have gone Darcy.

But on reflection I think that's because I'm most familiar with the name from Mr Darcy in P&P, so maybe spelling it that way is masculine?

2isabella2 · 12/11/2018 23:30

I would also go Darcy but much prefer Matilda Rose, flows really nicely and is a beautiful name.

MarthaArthur · 12/11/2018 23:31

Darcy like Darcy Wretsky the others look wrong.

MarthaArthur · 12/11/2018 23:32

Actually its D'arcy

HurricaneHalle · 12/11/2018 23:32

Prefer Rose as the middle name. Think Darcey quite strong and doesn't flow as well as Rose IMO.

Sophronia · 12/11/2018 23:49

Matilda Rose is much nicer.

katsudon · 12/11/2018 23:51

Darcey, though I do prefer Darcy.

LMDC · 12/11/2018 23:59

Darcie or preferably Darcy. Darcey looks clunky and misspelt. Darcie does look rather cutesy but not awful. Darcy is the most used & nicest spelling.

Goostacean · 13/11/2018 00:33

Of the two, Darcey. But as pp said, Darcy is better.

Rachelover40 · 13/11/2018 00:54

Darcey is a lovely name. I've also seen it spelt 'Darsey' but much prefer the former.

Fairenuff · 13/11/2018 00:54

It's that 'da da' in the middle of the name that doesn't sound right.

Matilda Darcy

Shadow1234 · 13/11/2018 01:10

Darcy (spelt this way).

weewillywinkie · 13/11/2018 02:04

Prefer Matilda Rose but agree it's very popular.

Prefer Darcy.

What are the negative connotations with Matilda Rose or Rose? Didn't quite understand your OP.

Nacmonalds · 13/11/2018 02:47

*It's that 'da da' in the middle of the name that doesn't sound right.

MatilDA DArcy*

I agree completely. The two ‘da’ sounds in a row don’t sound good and I would avoid.

What other names do you like?

Sungura · 13/11/2018 05:44

Darcy is the best spelling, I agree with others. It's the traditional spelling. The ways you've got it spelt look trendy. I'm not sure it goes with Mathilda, though... At least it's a unique middle name for the first.

ReginaPhalange89 · 13/11/2018 06:00

I love the name Darcy (spelled that way), but I agree I don't think it flows great with Matilda!

My first name ends with the same letters as my surname begins and it doesn't roll off the tongue very well!

Icklepup · 13/11/2018 07:05

Darcy but from your options Darcey.

firsttimemumma89 · 13/11/2018 07:18

So due to my job I've met a few Rose/Rosie's that have put me off the name to be honest.
Any other suggestions?

Matilda Darcy.

I don't like Darcey or Darcie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/11/2018 10:00

I too agree about the da da sound.
Would you not consider switching the names around to Darcie Matilda.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/11/2018 10:05

Matilda Florence
Matilda Grace
Matilda Louise
Matilda Jasmine
Matilda Elizabeth
Matilda Frances
Matilda Josephine
Matilda Lucy
Matilda Blythe

I think one syllable name with a 3 syllable is nice, but it will basically never be used. My kids know their middle nanes now, but only after they were about 8 and they never, ever use them. I think names with a meaning are nice so that there is a 'reason' for having a middle name eg. Named after someone precious to you, a particular role model, your maiden name, a name that means something you love (eg. Gift from God), a name given by a grandparent etc.

Watchingthetelly · 13/11/2018 10:10

I knew an American call with that name, spelt it Darcy. Lovely name.

SeekingClosure · 13/11/2018 10:15

I like Darcy but I agree about the dada sound after Matilda - what about Dulcie?
