Running out of time boy names

I've found it so difficult to choose a male name, nothing grabs me. We like fairly traditional names but not too popular. Middle name preferably George (family link) which is a bit too popular as a first name for me. DH doesn't have many strong opinions on it, if I really like something he'll be fine.

I don't mind Jude or Jasper but neither go with George and DH says Jasper is pretentious but suggested Julian as an alternative?! (Which I hate).

I did like Dexter, but not sure if too American, not sure we'll ever see a prime minister Dexter etc. I don't like really out there names, apple, sailor, meadow etc and it's important it works for an adult not just a child.

Surname is hyphenated F-S (both two syllables) , so not sure we could use an F name (FFS) , I almost wish I hadn't kept my surname as I quite like it as a first name (Fraser) .

Girl name I'd picked before 20wk scan (Tabitha) if that helps. I've got less than six weeks to go...

Help!

How about...

Leo George
Joseph George
Luke George
Matthew George
Adam George
Alec George

arwenearlythereyet · 04/11/2018 13:01

Is it easier if you stop worrying about what goes with the middle name?

AtticaRose · 04/11/2018 13:02

Seth George
Levi George
Owen George
Asher George

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 13:08

@AtticaRose I feel like you know half my family! DB, Matthew,
Cousin, Adam,
Nephew, Leo,
Cousin's son, Luke,
Grandfather, Joseph!
Not keen on Alec.

Sebastian

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 13:09

@arwenearlythereyet not really, if I really loved Jasper or Jude I'd just pick a different middle name, but they are just ok to me.

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 13:11

@moredoll I don't mind Sebastian, Seb as a NN

I also like Seth but live in Essex so it would end up being Seff to lots of people which would drive me insane

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 13:24

I do like Felix but FFS I just don't know if I could do it! Also same concerns as Dexter, too faddy/American?
Some of the names suggested are fine, but none really make me think yes that's it! What is it about boy names?

AtticaRose · 04/11/2018 13:45

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2018 13:48

Is your surname now double-barrelled? Does the baby have to have a double-barrelled surname?
If you are Jane Fraser and your DH John Surname could the baby be Fraser George Surname?

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2018 13:49

I don't like Sebastian or Jude.

7 weeks to go with a baby boy and we haven’t even discussed names yet so you’ve panicked me with your ‘running out of time’ comment. I thought we had loads of time Grin.

@MikeUniformMike DH and I both double barreled when we got married, so both of us and DS will all have the same double barreled surname. His surname is a diminutive of my first name so I wasn't willing to completely change, think Christine Chrissy (not my actual names)

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 14:07

@SoyDora six weeks is plenty of time, but not when you've been discussing names for thirteen weeks and still haven't made any progress!

Peter

TwllBach · 04/11/2018 14:12

Atticus George

I found boys names very difficult as I just didn't like any! We ended up with a generic top 10 name that is fine but I don't love it.

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2018 14:25

George Fraser-Surname sounds good to me.
I'm a fan of traditional, classic names, so Peter, Andrew, Mark, David, Michael, Charles etc would be a suggested first name if you feel George is too popular.

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 14:32

@MikeUniformMike I am coming round to George a bit, and I think any more traditional name is going to be common...

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 14:34

@TwllBach in Essex it would be A'icus to some 😂 it is hard isn't it, I just don't want to saddle him with something awful for the rest of his life
