A witches cat!!

OatsBeansBarley · 02/11/2018 22:22

I like Thomasina Miers.

I think I like the name. But I can see a lot of people wouldn't.

It's not too masculine like Donalda. More like Henrietta/ Hetty which I do like.

I have eclectic taste and really don't dislike many names so perhaps I'm not a good judge!

Belindabauer · 02/11/2018 22:25

Return of the Native had a Thomasina in it.
I don't really like it as I don't like male sounding names for girls, such as Nigella, Georgia etc.

Fridgedooropen · 02/11/2018 22:26

Tamsin is better.

Notveryadventurousname · 02/11/2018 22:27

Seems a bit clunky and ugly...a stretch too far for a girl. Henrietta and Georgina have same vibe but prettier and also not immediately a male name converted to a female one. Well, they are, but used more often so seem more of a name in their own right.

Thomasin Yeobright is in The Return of The Native

Tamsin is a variant. I much prefer Thomasina- Tamsin sounds quite masculine. (Samson)

MyOtherProfile · 02/11/2018 22:37

Nigella's sister was called Thomasina. She had another called Horatia. I always wondered if their parents really only wanted sons.

hellloooo · 02/11/2018 22:37

I'm sorry but I think it's really awful

stayathomegardener · 02/11/2018 22:39

I can definitely comment on this being a Thomasine.

Hated it as a child and was officially known as Tommy or Tom/T to very close friends.

I do however use it for official purposes.

I turn 50 in January and am really growing in to it.

HTH

2kidsintow · 02/11/2018 22:43

I'm a Tamzin as m parents liked Thomasina but didn't want a 4 syllable name. I've never had anyone say my name is masculine.
Was once told it sounded like a Chinese restaurant

Sophronia · 02/11/2018 22:48

I really like Thomasina, Thomasine and Thomasin.

IVflytrap · 02/11/2018 22:49

Much prefer Tamsin.

It is considerably nicer by a long way than the Edwardian char lady names like Ivy, Maisie, Ruby, Pearl, Elsie and Daisy

One person's char lady is another person's beloved grandmother Wink . Or, these days, great-grandmother. A lot of the Edwardian names coming back are namesake names.

StrawberrySoup · 02/11/2018 22:52

It reminds me of Thomasina Tittlemouse from Beatrix Potter! I like it.

orangecogs · 02/11/2018 22:53

I really love it, more as a middle name choice though

glitterfarts · 02/11/2018 22:54

Tamsin is nice. Arabella is pretty.
Georgia, Georgina, Nigella are all quite feminine sounding.

Henrietta and Thomasina are horrific.
As is Harriet.

slippermaiden · 02/11/2018 23:06

I really like it!

CrookedMe · 02/11/2018 23:07

God awful

eachtigertires · 03/11/2018 00:20

Awful...sorry.

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/11/2018 04:54

Awful, sorry!

lovetherisingsun · 03/11/2018 04:55

It's a no from me

Peachbubble · 03/11/2018 05:28

I quite like it! But it's a bit of a mouthful though.

mathanxiety · 03/11/2018 05:37

I love it. I consider it a classic, and very stylish.

After reading and re-reading The Tale of Thomasina Tittlemouse to DD2 at least 250 times, I knew it off by heart at one point of my life. I still have a soft spot for The Tale...

I agree with LassWiADelicateAir.
It is considerably nicer by a long way than the Edwardian char lady names like Ivy, Maisie, Ruby, Pearl, Elsie and Daisy which in 2018 list of most popular names.

mathanxiety · 03/11/2018 05:38

*'The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse' (I never read the title.)
