2 to choose from...

Hello,

We think we are down to 2 names for our baby girl;

Amelie
Romy (pronounced Roam-ee)

We don't like any of the longer forms of Romy we've heard.

My 2 older children have short 2 syllable names, and our surname is also 2 syllables if that makes a difference.

Which would you choose?

Thanks!

I would wait till the baby is here and see which suits her.

E20mom · 31/10/2018 07:58

Amelie is much nicer

VenusInSpurs · 31/10/2018 08:10

Both lovely.
Romy is more unusual, I knew one a while ago.
I think I would go with Romy.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/10/2018 08:17

Romy.
I can't stand Amelie. Its either Amelia or Emily.

raviolidreaming · 31/10/2018 09:05

I know you've said you don't like the longer names, but I used to work with a Romalie and loved her name. If not though, I much prefer Romy to Amelie.

Polkasq · 31/10/2018 09:20

I prefer Amelie.

Peachbubble · 31/10/2018 09:37

Amelie

Another2day · 31/10/2018 10:27

I prefer Romy pronounced Rom-ee

finallychangedmyusername · 31/10/2018 10:43

Romy

ZebraKid71 · 31/10/2018 13:48

Amelie is too common in my area... I second above suggestion of Romilly.

daisypond · 31/10/2018 13:58

Romy - by far. Amelie is twee.

Shadow1234 · 31/10/2018 15:21

I really love both - would probably choose Romy (pronounced the same way as you say), as its that little bit more unusual. My daughter has a friend called Romy (she's 22), but I've never met anyone else with this name.

Rebecca36 · 31/10/2018 15:24

Amelie is really nice. Don't like Romy, never heard it before either. I did know a Roma years ago but she came from an Eastern European background. So for me, Amelie is the best but wait until the baby is here and see what suits her.

Glumglowworm · 31/10/2018 15:32

Romy

Flamingosnbears · 31/10/2018 15:55

Romy by far or Romalie sound like a good mix of the two...

ree348 · 31/10/2018 16:02

Love Romy! The other one you suggested is a bit common now.

Icklepup · 31/10/2018 16:50

Romy

RebeccaWrongDaily · 31/10/2018 16:52

i love Romy, i can't stand Amelie- it's 'faddy'

GrammerlyH · 31/10/2018 21:37

Love Romilly nn Romy

ReginaPhalange89 · 31/10/2018 21:42

Surprised at someone saying Amelie is 'faddy'.... I'd actually have said Romy was the faddy of the two ! I know a couple of babies recently born called Romy ... Seems like it's about to be popular.

Sandsnake · 31/10/2018 22:16

I prefer Romy.

Emelene · 31/10/2018 22:20

Amelie is a beautiful name. Romy is cool but may get pronounce Rommy rather than Roam-y i reckon.

TheGhostOfYou · 01/11/2018 09:46

Prefer Amelie

Gazelda · 01/11/2018 10:01

I love both. But there are dozens of Amelies around here so if it were me I'd probably go for Romy.

Another2day · 01/11/2018 10:07

I find Amélie very faddy and it may start to sound dated as it falls out of fashion.

Romy is more classic and interesting
