Unique baby boy names.

Our little boy is called Grayson.
We loved the name Jaxson for a second boy, a bit overplayed at the moment, but we still loved it. The DHs brother had a boy and called him Jack. So definitely too close to use and we see them regularly.
Then we decided on Clay and stuck with that for about 8 months, DH informed me last night he's gone off it.
I am 13 weeks pregnant and we find out the sex in 3 weeks. I'm stressing now though because I wanted as long as possible to get used to the name, in case like the above happened and one of us changes their mind But our baby had already had the name for several months.
I like Jenson, Quinn, Daxx, Axel and similar.
Unique but not super out there names.
DH hates them all and keeps coming back to his choices which are Alec, Archimedes and Dante.

We've always been so good at making decisions and this one has stumped us!
I'm hoping baby is a girl now because we've had that name picked for 7 years and would make me stress less!

I would wait three weeks, in case it's a girl and then you don't have to worry.

If it's a boy, please don't let your DH call him Archimedes (although Archie for short isn't too bad!!).

Nightlights · 29/10/2018 10:00

I love Griffin but maybe it's too close to Grayson for you

Nightlights · 29/10/2018 10:00

Or Maxim?

MsHopey · 29/10/2018 10:49

My dad had a 20 foot python when I was younger, his body was thick as my thigh (and I have thick thighs 😳) and he was called Archimedes, so it's a no go from me.
Though I did think Archie was a bit better.
He still wants Jaxson but I just think it's way too close to his cousin and it wouldn't be fair.
Top name is Axel at the moment but I don't think he's actually loving it.

Only other bloody cousin we see regularly is called Max! So that's also took a few names off the list and another reason Jaxson (probably shortened to Jax) seems unfair with Jack and Max!

If it's a girl she's being called Snow.
Every member of both our families hate that one 😂 x

I don't absolutely hate Snow as a name, but this baby won't be born in the winter, will it?

scrivette · 29/10/2018 11:03

I liked Axel, also liked Inego and Jenson (although that's in the top 100 now).

People I know with a 'Jenson' also have a Cooper, Vinnie, Arlo.

I like Snow, one of my children has a name that most people hated when we announced it, just be strong and ignore everyone!

How about Winter, Storm or Blaze or are they too girly?

MsHopey · 29/10/2018 11:08

Snows been my top girl name since I was 13. And thankfully DH likes it too.
Baby is due April 25th So very little chance of actual Snow showing up but you never know with British weather.
I like Winter but it seems more a girls name for me. And Kylie Jenner is it with Stormi or has ruined that one for me.
Not sure about blaze.
Arlo is my sister's favourite name and has it reserved for her next baby boy. Which I like it but not enough to cause a family fued over.
I'm surprised people are like Snow! I'm very happy with it but most people we know think it's ridiculous.

Even if it weren't for your nephew, what's wrong with Jackson rather than Jaxson? ('Jax'/'jacks is also well-known Irish slang for toilets, so it doesn't fill me with joy either way.)

And Clay is awful, so I think your DH is wise to rethink that.

But also, OP, you do not need to name an unborn baby, whether or not you know its sex. You have months and months yet before you need to make a decision, so why not calm down about it for a while? Our son wasn't finally named until we were on our way to register him when he was eight weeks old. There are no prizes for speed.

AliCanTea · 29/10/2018 11:56

Could you compromise and have Dante but with Dax as a nickname? Otherwise Grayson and Magnus sounds nice I think.

FishCanFly · 29/10/2018 12:38

Clay was cool... Clayton maybe? what about Cole (Coleman)?

brodiee · 29/10/2018 14:21

Harrison?

Shadow1234 · 29/10/2018 14:26

Grayson is a lovely name btw.

Not keen on your DH names tbh

Other suggestions:

Oakley
Peyton
Cooper
Parker
Jesse
Jarred
Reid
Jarvis
Jensen
Wyatt
Cory
Cody
Zachary
Jonas
Ramsey
Murray
Lincoln
Hudson

ABCFamily · 29/10/2018 18:35

You seem partial to names with an X in them, so what about:
Baxter
Huxley
Lennox
Lex
Maddox
Paxton
Phoenix
Rex

Or the more mainstream Dexter or Xander.

almondsareforevermore · 29/10/2018 19:03

Unique means there’s only one so you’ll have to invent a new name. Wouldn’t Snow do for a boy or a girl?

MimiSunshine · 29/10/2018 20:02

OP if you call a DD Snow it sounds exactly like you are 13yrs old. Plus it really doesn’t go with Greyson.

Would you honestly hand on heart be happy to introduce yourself at work with that name?
Go into Starbucks, order a drink and give them the name Snow. See if you feel super confident doing it and what the reaction is gets when it’s called out.

As for boys names, how about Cooper, Huxley or Fletcher?

Picknickers · 30/10/2018 02:05

Seeing as you like Clay and Jaxson, why not Abel? (SOA)

SleepWarrior · 30/10/2018 02:31

I know of a Jaxton - would that be different enough to work? Other ideas: Sullivan, Colton, Oakley.

Icklepup · 30/10/2018 10:03

Silas

CookingGood · 30/10/2018 10:07

It’s got to the point now when I’m never sure if the OPs of these threads are taking the piss or not.

Gray and clay? Snow?

GreenTulips · 30/10/2018 10:13

I like Phoenix

What about Orry, Cole, Jenson?

ShadyLady53 · 30/10/2018 10:33

For boys names how about Troy, Deacon, Dalton, Dax/Daxton, Cole/Colby, Claybourne, Carter, Thor (I don’t like this personally but saw Archimedes!), Dante, Zeus, Archer, Buzz, Hunter, Ryder, Armstrong.

I can’t imagine how a grown woman is going to feel being called “Snow”. I honestly think it would be cruel to call her that. Could it not be a middle name as a compromise? I’ve worked with children for years and have seen how parents and teachers roll their eyes and make fun of certain names (Rock, Wednesday and Ocean stand out as particularly memorable children that got a hard time).

moredoll · 30/10/2018 10:52

Dante's okay-ish.

Alexander nn Xander instead of Alec.

Sorry, but I agree with your families - don't like Snow. How about Neve (means snow)?

Saltnpepperr · 20/01/2019 14:26

Love Axel. My DS2 is Axel. Love Snow too. Great names

daisypond · 20/01/2019 14:32

I like Dante, and Alec is OK. Archimedes is a bit too much. I don't like any of your names, I'm afraid, OP.

MsHopey · 20/01/2019 14:42

Hey, update.
I'm now nearly 26 weeks pregnant with a boy and we've chosen our name 😁
