DP is French, we'd like our children's first names to be French but easily pronounced/spelled in UK (live in UK). Have a few names in mind already, does anyone have any male/female suggestions? Smile

Love Elodie and Eloise. ( very pretty names)

I really also like Amelie.

Hugo, Thomas, Charles, William, Victor, Max, Lucas

Caroline, Catherine, Anna, Florence, Beatrice, Constance, Charlotte, Diane, Rose

Botanicbaby · 28/09/2018 22:45

Aimee for a girl and Xavier for a boy.

A very old fashioned name in France for a girl is Valerie. All easy to pronounce here Smile

Other than a lot of the names already suggested, I love Loïc for a boy

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/09/2018 22:48

Adele should be Adèle.

MollyHuaCha · 28/09/2018 22:55

Just a thought... how will accents work regarding official documentation in the UK?

For instance, will Adèle always have to be spelt Adele?

chipsandgin · 28/09/2018 22:57

Louis & Sophie

littlebillie · 28/09/2018 23:25

Fantine cosette

Cosmoa · 28/09/2018 23:32

I'm a bit confused by the accents you have placed on the names Elodie and Chloe.... For a start the e's on each name made a different sound. Could you clarify OP?

I have a Leon. He is 8 weeks old and amazing! 😊

CallMePea · 28/09/2018 23:46

Always loved the boys name Etienne!

motortroll · 28/09/2018 23:53

Josephine. My girl is Josephine!! Works great in French and English and we shorten it to Josie and phina (or fiend lol)

phoolani · 28/09/2018 23:54

I considered calling dd Elodie cos I love it. French friends uniformly pulled a face and and said it was (for want of a better translation) a bit chavvy.
Ines and Agnès would be my alternatives.

Why would it? There are loads of names which have accents.

fieryginger · 29/09/2018 01:13

I do love Clementine.

Armchairanarchist · 29/09/2018 01:16

Babette, known as Betty

KarlDilkington · 29/09/2018 01:20

I love Giselle

IvanMashPotatoIvanDoTheTwist · 29/09/2018 01:30

Etienne for a boy, Eti is cute.

My all time favourite for a girl is Sylvie.

I also love Gaspard

moredoll · 29/09/2018 02:16

Eloise
Sophie
Fabienne

Also really like Etienne for a boy

Bridgegeek · 29/09/2018 02:42

My son is Emile, we love the name which we picked for family reasons. But at Drs appointments etc it is routinely pronounced Emily. On the other hand we live in a very multicultural part of Canada and most of the children a5 daycare etc have “unusual” names, so perhaps less of an issue than in the UK

Wow I wasn't expecting this many replies, thanks for all the suggestions! Particularly love Loïc, Louis, Lucas, Maëlys, Camille and Anaïs :)

You can use accents when you register the birth, but not all computer systems are designed for accept these (accents aren't printed on British passports).

LaDaronne · 29/09/2018 11:12

Slight arf at baby Francine and baby Valérie... Elodie is indeed a bit chavvy, and thirty years behind the times.

LeeMiller · 29/09/2018 11:55

I like all of those except Lucas. I would imagine them being said in variety of British accents though and see if you still love them. Camille is likely to be said Cam-eel. People will get Anaïs wrong. I think they're so lovely it wouldn't put me off, but it's worth considering if needing to frequently correct spelling and pronunciation will annoy you. I would expect accents to get misplaced or dropped as they're a pain on British keyboards. I know a Zoë and it's almost always written Zoe.

French inspired names I love are Claudia for a girl and Lucien for a boy x
