I really like this name for a girl, but DH has reservations 😂
What does everyone think?!

It's pretty but fairly common where I live, also sounds a lot like Amelia (also popular) not as unique as it may have been a ew years ago.

VillageCats · 28/09/2018 20:02

Most people will know it but he should love it too. Try the movie on him.

elizabetter · 28/09/2018 21:16

Very pretty. So much nicer than Amelia in my opinion

Picknickers · 29/09/2018 02:02

Reminds me of a horrible ex colleague who got sacked for stealing. That's just me though.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 29/09/2018 02:53

I love it. It’s especially gorgeous with a French accent 👩🏼‍🎨

It’s rather less gorgous with some British regional dialects.

moredoll · 29/09/2018 05:43

I like the film, but I'm with your DH.

LeeMiller · 29/09/2018 11:59

A bit twee and cutesy, I think because of the film association.

Floyella · 29/09/2018 12:04

Dull and cutesy. Not a fan.

MikeUniformMike · 29/09/2018 13:29

I don't like it much. It's said as Ammerly in the UK. Emily is nicer. Amelia is a bit too twee for me but it's better than Amelie.

ZebraKid71 · 29/09/2018 13:38

It's nice but very popular in my area, often read as amelia.

My sister is an Amelie (32yo) and was the only one I knew for years, it was very uncommon to the point that people either called her amelia and Emily... As a result she's gone by Amy since she was about 7.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 29/09/2018 13:42

It's been popular for years, I still prefer it to Amelia, both are pretty.

NotANotMan · 29/09/2018 13:43

It's pretty with a French accent but fairly pedestrian in English.
