I really like this name for a girl, but DH has reservations 😂
What does everyone think?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Aprilshowersnowastorm · 28/09/2018 10:13

Sounds made up!
Dd's middle name is Amelia so maybe just me thinking it looks like a nn for that!

DDogMum · 28/09/2018 10:24

I absolutely love it

piggie88 · 28/09/2018 10:34

I love it!

BlueUggs · 28/09/2018 10:39

Made up?! It's a French name!!! There is a film of the same name....
It's quite common around here....(midlands)
I prefer Aurelie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/09/2018 10:47

Like a cross between Emily and Amelia gone wrong.

worstmotherintheworld · 28/09/2018 10:51

It's the French version of Amelia. I think it's pretty but I can imagine people pronouncing it wrong!

daisypond · 28/09/2018 11:03

I don't like it. It feels very dated to me (the film must be nearly 20 years old now) and somewhat cutesy. It's been pretty popular for years, I think. I prefer Amelia.

laseo · 28/09/2018 11:12

I wouldn't know if it was Am-eh-lee or Am-ee-lee! Not sure if that's me being sillyHmm

Jaxtellerswife · 28/09/2018 11:15

It's lovely

antipodeanjo · 28/09/2018 11:24

I love it! I want it for our baby but DH is dead against it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/09/2018 11:36

Its Am-eh-Lee, Laseo. Am-ee-Lee would be quite nice

PinkFlamingo888 · 28/09/2018 11:38

I’m shocked by the people who don’t know this name. I love it but worry that’s it’s too popular now but I guess it isn’t!

GMtoBe · 28/09/2018 11:41

Beautiful name. My daughter is Amelia and was nearly Amelie. One of my friends has a little girl called Amelie and the name really suits her.

gilmoregal · 28/09/2018 11:48

Amelie is lovely, much nicer than Amelia imo.

I know of two, an adult in her 30's and a 7 year old.

NonaGrey · 28/09/2018 11:51

I pretty surprised that there are posters who think Amelie is made up! It’s not a particularly uncommon name.

It’s very lovely OP. My DD’s friend was called Millie when she was little bit hoes by her full name now.

Shadow1234 · 28/09/2018 12:40

Also absolutely love it! Prefer it to Amelia or Emilia tbh.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/09/2018 12:46

I like it and know a few (one 6 year old and two 2 year olds) but woulf worry it would get lost in a sea of Amelia's

starsandstuff · 28/09/2018 12:52

It's really pretty.

llangennith · 28/09/2018 12:59

It's not an unusual name! I know a few, oldest is 28, youngest is 5.

Cosmoa · 28/09/2018 14:20

I love the film Amelie! So do my best friends and they are naming their daughter Amelie (if they have a girl that is...)

Penguinsetpandas · 28/09/2018 14:24

I love the name Amelie, French DH wasn't overly keen.

Sunflower321 · 28/09/2018 14:24

I find it a little dull around so many Emilys, Amelias, Emilias, Amelies and Millies

twoundertwox · 28/09/2018 18:55

I have one Smile
Out of my three is the "least common" in top 100 but the only one that we know of another her age!

Glumglowworm · 28/09/2018 19:56

I don’t really like it

I prefer Amelia

formerbabe · 28/09/2018 19:57

Gorgeous name ..was on my list!
