Is Juno too matchy with Margot?

Already have a little 2 year old Margot and love love love Juno- think it’s fresh and sparky. But are the o endings too matchy? Will probably sound ridiculous shouting them at the park (I’m aware my children aren’t dogs :)) Grin

no, i think they are fine together because margot has the 't' at the end.

all the best x

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 17:29

Thank you xx sleepismysuperpower1 but if you heard them at the playground would you raise any eyebrows?

Too matchy for me I'm afraid. I'd never pronounce the 't' at the end of Margot either Confused

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 17:37

Yep I wouldn’t either apple the O ending is the best part :)

I think it's fine, possible people may be more likely to get their names mixed up but if you love it I wouldn't worry about similar sounding ending as the first syllables are very different.
Both lovely names btw. My youngest was nearly a Juno and I regret not choosing it!

sleepismysuperpower1 · 21/09/2018 17:41

i wouldn't personally. as a variation to juno, what about Juneau ? its a longer version and doesnt have the 'matchy' problem you are worried about. however, understand it might not be quite what you are looking for Smile

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 17:43

sleepismysuperpower I’m not a fan to be honest, I think the variation takes what I love away from Juno. Also won’t change anything once it’s said out loud
ruby thank you! That’s where my dilemma is as they’re quite different bar the ending- but I guess the ending is what makes two names matchy

I think too Matchy I'm afraid, what about Jude?

TheVanguardSix · 21/09/2018 17:45

Ah no it's fine! "Margot's sister Juno is in reception," sounds fine to me. We tend to overthink on MN but in reality, no one will bat an eye. If you love it, go for it.

FartnissEverbeans · 21/09/2018 17:50

I think they’re alright actually. Aside from the ending they’re really quite different (in a good way, not a ‘weird together’ way!)

ruby29 · 21/09/2018 17:55

Possibly because the first syllable of both names is fairly strong sounding / starts with a Constenant I think you don't notice the ending nearly as much. If you love it go for it!
Remember you're only calling their names in the playground for a few years , their names need to see them through a whole lifespan.

lilax · 21/09/2018 18:14

I don't think they're too matchy at all!

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 18:32

Hmm mixed responses. Might just take the not too matchy ones and run with them because the more I say and see Juno the more I love urn

Oops *it

I can see why you're asking the question, but I don't think it's too bad. It sounds way less matchy than matching first letters, somehow.

Eleanor90 · 21/09/2018 19:30

Too matchy for me. As you say, the o ending is what stands out as it’s quite unusual.

SweatyFretty · 21/09/2018 19:37

They are my two favourite names at the moment. But alas, they are too similar and so I'm fated with going to have to figure out which is my favourite.

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 20:36

Haha good taste sweatyfretty

DramaAlpaca · 21/09/2018 20:55

I don't find them matchy at all. Yes, the ending is the same, but otherwise they are completely different names. They are perfect for siblings IMO.

JennyHolzersGhost · 21/09/2018 20:57

Too matchy for anyone who knows how to pronounce them. Also too vowelly.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 21/09/2018 20:57

It’s fine! In my experience I’m usually only shouting at one child at a time 😂

passwordfailure · 21/09/2018 22:17

I don't find them matchy and i really love Juno. Is it too soon after the film though?

SweatyFretty · 21/09/2018 22:23

Juno came out 11 years ago.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 21/09/2018 22:24

They are quite matchy and I don’t think I’d do it. What about Junia as an alternative to Juno?

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 22:27

Tamitaylor thanks for the suggestion but I’m not a fan of any of the jun... names apart from Juno. If I don’t go for Juno she’ll be Isadora (I know it’s a completely different type of name, not the type I’m usually drawn to)
