Is Juno too matchy with Margot?

Already have a little 2 year old Margot and love love love Juno- think it’s fresh and sparky. But are the o endings too matchy? Will probably sound ridiculous shouting them at the park (I’m aware my children aren’t dogs :)) Grin

I really like June too actually. Fresh alternative to May.

Hernamewasl0la · 21/09/2018 22:31

I don’t know why I’m so particular with names- June seems frumpy to me whereas Juno is inexplicably cool. I confuse myself!

Both Juno and Isasora are absolutely gorgeous names and both go very well with margot. You have great taste. Go with your gut!

regularbutpanickingabit · 21/09/2018 22:35

I, however, have an autocorrect problem Hmm

SweatyFretty · 21/09/2018 22:36

June is an old lady name for sure, and I agree that Juno isn't. My love for June comes from the fact that it's my late Gran's best mate's name. She was utterly fantastic to me when she died and is a total, ahead-of-her-time feminist badass.

Plus then there was June from the Handmaid's Tale, compounding the link between badass women and Junes in my brain.

Funny how just names can evoke such emotional reactions, isn't it?

widgetbeana · 21/09/2018 22:42

Margot and Juno are fine together as the initial syllable is strong.

Love Juno, please do it.

Remember 'people who matter won't mind, people who mind won't matter'

Cosmoa · 21/09/2018 23:08

I also think they're fine together!

Piebeansandchips · 21/09/2018 23:12

Margot & Juno are gorgeous together

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 22/09/2018 08:49

Oh now, if it’s a choice between Juno and Isadora then Isadora wins every day of the week! I love it!

(Also - there is a fab wee set of books by Harriet Muncaster about a vampire fairy called Isadora Moon (great for early readers) so she could have her very own book series!)

NancyFrank · 22/09/2018 20:07

I think it's fine! I know three sisters Emily, Sophie and Chloe they all have the same ending and no-one bats an eyelid

Hernamewasl0la · 23/09/2018 16:57

nancyfrank their mum must get tongue twisted at dinner time

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 23/09/2018 17:36

To be fair, don’t most parents get tongue twisted at times no matter what their kids’ names are?! I know my mum did, and so do I, despite my siblings and I, and my DC having very different names!

Hernamewasl0la · 23/09/2018 20:49

tamitayor you’re right- I could probably count the number of times my mum called me by the right name on one hand Grin

jadedgranger · 25/09/2018 16:19

No i think they go well together and sound really cute

Hernamewasl0la · 26/09/2018 16:53

I’ve heard a lot about the film since throwing the name about but never watched it- maybe I should
And although I’m very thankful for all the alternatives I don’t think they have the same effect as Juno to me

I love Juno- such a breath of fresh air among all the frilly Isa/Ara/anabellas

CocoLoco87 · 28/09/2018 23:22

I was going to say Juno's fine but now you've mentioned Isadora, that is just the better name!

jigsawpiece · 30/09/2018 09:40

Totally fine, and I don't think matchy is an issue. Nobody would bat an eyelid at two sisters called Sarah and Hannah yet they end with the same sound too.

If you love Juno, go for it! I think it sounds cool too. Reminds me of the space mission to Jupiter a couple of years back.

Cookit · 30/09/2018 09:48

I don’t see them as matchy. Yes the ending is the same but the start of the same is so different with a “oo” and an “ah” that they are very different to me. It’s not like, say, Gemma and Emma.

mysteryfairy · 30/09/2018 10:05

They go together rather than being twee matchup names. I think they sound really gorgeous for siblings. Margot and Isadora are so not matching they sound a bit incongruous together - though just Dora would work!

Courtney555 · 30/09/2018 10:14

Its not just the "o", they are both two syllable as well, and it's much more noticeable because they are not overly common names. I hear "Aaah-o" and "Oooh-o".
It would be like two boys being Jago and Milo. "Aay-o" and "Eye-o"

I know that looks like I'm speaking in Klingon Grin

IVflytrap · 30/09/2018 11:30

I think they go together beautifully. Aside from the "o" ending sound, they sound pretty different ,and written down, they look very dissimilar (the "t" ending for Margot helps). If you were suggesting calling DD2 Mireio or Monroe or something, it'd be a definite no from me, but Juno is different enough in my mind to work. Plus it's a cool name with a long history, which is a bonus. Smile

I know plenty of siblings whose names end in the same sound - mostly y/ie or a if they're girls and no one bats an eyelid. I suppose the o ending sound is less common, but that just gives the names a nice link to each other. Otherwise, they're fairly different names from different origins. Go for it.

Wow, sorry for writing an essay there!
