museumum · 12/09/2018 21:43

Jobby means poo in Scotland so no from me. Sorry.

faeriequeen · 12/09/2018 21:44

Means poo in England too.

EspressoPatronum · 12/09/2018 21:44

Jobie = a shit in East Yorkshire as well!

Hayles88 · 12/09/2018 21:45

A jobie is a shit. Don't name your child shit. Don't be silly.

FogCutter · 12/09/2018 21:45

Absolutely not jobie as it's a poo to some people!

Jofie is much better!

MLTS · 12/09/2018 21:45

A big brown Jobie 😐 sorry!

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2018 21:45

Not good, either of them.

Sessy19 · 12/09/2018 21:47

Jobie as a nick name for Job, as in the biblical Job? I like it...never heard Jobie for a poo....

Fooferella · 12/09/2018 21:50

One of my friend's has a jobe (sounds like robe) and he changed his name when he grew up. Personally I don't like either.

BakedBeans47 · 12/09/2018 21:53

Def not Jobie for reasons mentioned and Jofie sounds made up

ProudThrilledHappy · 12/09/2018 21:55

How about Jovie? There is a Jovie in Elf Smile

Neweternal · 12/09/2018 21:58

Jobbie. Ha ha! Don't do it honestly they'll get ridiculed.

Lindah1 · 12/09/2018 22:05

Yep a jobie is a shit....all I can think of is a Billy Connolly sketch where there is one in an aeroplane toilet Grin

HalloumiGus · 12/09/2018 22:11

Sorry, all I could see was jobbie! And yes it means a poo!

Sophronia · 12/09/2018 23:04

I know a Jobey spelled this way. I’ve never heard of Jofie.

passwordfailure · 13/09/2018 01:45

How about Joseph instead? With either of your choices as a nn

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/09/2018 01:49

Joffrey ....

Yeah no you don't want to be calling a child Jobie. 💩

LittleMouseontheDairy · 13/09/2018 06:50

Do people say ‘Joe-bee’ for a poo in Scotland/ North England etc or ‘job-bee’ though because that’s two different sounds surely?
I know a Jobi and he’s a very charming and endearing young boy! His siblings have lovely names too although more ‘traditional’ (I’m not 100% sure if there’s an ‘e’ at the end but it’s definitely pronounced that way).

tova · 13/09/2018 08:41

LittleMouse
It can be said both ways in different areas- the same way in some parts of Scotland 'Bobby' might be said as 'Boaby' (which can also mean something else other than the name).

Sungura · 13/09/2018 09:36

Joffrey, Jeffery, or Joseph sound like the BC names for a Jofie. It does sound like a nn, something invented, not a given birth name. I'd use it over the other. 💩🚫😞 You want pleasant connotations for your son, I am sure.

Unihorn · 13/09/2018 09:38

It doesn't mean shit in Wales if that helps...

LittleMouseontheDairy · 13/09/2018 10:23

Aha, thanks for the clarification tova
