Both those names are bully magnets.

Booboostwo · 13/09/2018 10:52

Jobie - you are not serious.

Jofie isn’t pronounced Joe-fee, it’s a made up name and English speakers who see it written down are likely to pronounce it Jofee.

Ho about Joe or Jeffrey, or Jeff or even Jez if you want something unusual?

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 13/09/2018 10:54

These are invented names right? I think they’re both pretty childish. Nicknames not real names.

Give them a real name and use these as nicknames.

OllyBJolly · 13/09/2018 11:03

The Jobbie Wheecher

ReginaPhalange89 · 13/09/2018 14:25

Jobie is awful, can't think of anything else other than poo, sorry ! Please don't .

Jofie sounds made up , and unfinished. Like it's a nn for Joseph or something

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 13/09/2018 14:27

They are both ridiculous.

LimboLuna · 13/09/2018 14:30

Sorry i just think of hand or blow with Jobie.

MinecraftHolmes · 13/09/2018 14:31

Adding to the chorus of "Jobie is a poo", sorry.

lovetherisingsun · 13/09/2018 14:32

Jofie is really feminine. Poor kid will get the bejesus bullied out of him. Jobie is a poo.

Elephantinacravat · 13/09/2018 14:33

Technically it's 'jobbie' for a poo isn't it, as in job-bee rather then Joe-bee. But as soon as I saw the thread title I thought of poo and knew everyone would come on and say the same so I would say Jobie is a no. I am not that keen on Jofie either.

How about Joel?

OMGItsPierre · 13/09/2018 14:49

Come on now, just call him Rick.

LucyFox · 13/09/2018 17:46

I don’t see Jobie & Jobbie as the same word at all, but Jobie & Jofie sound feminine to me along with Jolie & Jodie
I echo other posters with a suggestion of Jeffrey as a very underused name nowadays or Joseph nn Jofie

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 13/09/2018 17:53

Wee jobby

I can hear billy Connolly saying it

MikeUniformMike · 13/09/2018 21:29

Jobey

PippilottaLongstocking · 13/09/2018 21:32

Only Jofie I’ve ever met was female

PippilottaLongstocking · 13/09/2018 21:39

Although I’ve just learnt that it was spelt Zsofi not Jofie! It’s a Hungarian name.

BlytheofWindyWillows · 13/09/2018 21:45

Wee beige jobby, just no Grin

HPLikecraft · 13/09/2018 23:10

Sorry, I'm a Scot and would crack up if I ever met anyone called Jobie. You really can't call your child this.

And Jofie... is that even a name?

What about Jodie?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/09/2018 23:49

Do you have an order of preference with the two names?

Would Jofie maybe edge it as your first choice but with Jobie coming in as a solid number two? Grin Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/09/2018 23:55

There's Joby Talbot, the brilliant musician who has worked alongside Neil Hannon with the orchestral arrangements on a lot of Divine Comedy songs.

Truth be told, we did genuinely really like the name Joby/Jobie (or even the Biblical root name Job, except it means 'persecuted', which we just couldn't do to a child; plus everybody would pronounce it with a short vowel sound, as in employment) - but we would never have considered it owing to the fact it sounds like you've called your son Poo. See also Simeon - a name we both also liked, but the homophone 'simian' means 'pertaining to a monkey'.
