Eliot?

Am I being a bit weird or is Eliot a lovely name for a girl Confused

Commonly associated with boys, maybe I'm more inclined to like it for a girl as I heard it on Scrubs first!!!

Opinions?

ET connotations for me. I love it but would assume it was a boy.

TheVanguardSix · 12/09/2018 21:31

For a boy, excellent.
How about Elodie for a girl?

mommabear7 · 12/09/2018 21:32

Yes, you're being a bit weird. I don't see it as a girls name at all.

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2018 21:33

It's just a boys' name to me. It doesn't sound right for a girl.

Secretsquirrel101 · 12/09/2018 21:34

Like scrubs.

It’s not a girls name tho, sorry. Just doesn’t sound quite right.

Sunflower321 · 12/09/2018 21:40

I do know a female Ellliot, nickname Ellie.

Failingat40 · 12/09/2018 22:05

Elliot (not Eliot) is a boys name I think.

I think Ellis is very similar and can be unisex, maybe a better choice?

DC06 · 12/09/2018 22:33

I would assume Elliot was a boy. Ellis is a nice name for a girl though x

Sessy19 · 12/09/2018 22:36

Elliot for a girl is actually quite cool. It’s a bit American, the tradition of giving girls a boy’s name, but I like it. I also like Perry for a boy, from Scrubs as well 😊

RoseMartha · 12/09/2018 22:49

To me it is a boys name

Shadow1234 · 12/09/2018 22:55

I love the name eliot, but dont know if it would work for a girl.
As another poster suggested - ELLIS could be a nice
alternative, and not an overly used name either.

Goostacean · 12/09/2018 23:06

The blonde female doctor in Scrubs is called Elliot, not sure how it’s spelt exactly, but that’s the only time I’ve heard of a female one. It seems American to me, due to that association.

Goostacean · 12/09/2018 23:07

Haha, I need to read OPs more carefully, sorry! Grin

fromdespairto · 13/09/2018 06:17

I love it for a girl. DS would have been named it if he'd been a girl.

Sungura · 13/09/2018 10:38

Nope. Elliot is a boys name. I hate when women misappropriate boys names and use them for girls. Elodea or something else beginning with El.. Look into other options. If it's the ending you like, how about Scarlett? Etc. Keep looking, of if you MUST use Elliot at least give it to your daughter as her middle name.

LeeMiller · 13/09/2018 14:32

A lovely name for a boy, on a girl it sounds very American and a bit pointless as there are lots of lovely similar-sounding girls' names: Ellie, Elodie, Eliana.

ReginaPhalange89 · 13/09/2018 14:36

I actually thought of Elliot for a girl at one point, but I decided against it. I do think it's cute but maybe as a nn. It's not really one of those unisex names

Jojo13 · 13/09/2018 21:27

I like it for a girl. (Though I have a boy Elliot!)
I tend to like more masculine names for girls, not because I’m trying to be all weird, far out and try-hard (which people on here often assume), just because I happen to like those names. If ds had been a girl, she would have been Evan. Which incidentally I really dislike on a boy. Weird.

popsanddolls · 13/09/2018 21:33

I love it. Never thought of it for a girls name. But now I have I think it's lovely

Yogagirl123 · 13/09/2018 21:33

I love it, but never known a girl called Eliot.

starzig · 13/09/2018 21:34

Sorry, thought it was just a typo on Elliot

kaitlinktm · 13/09/2018 21:51

I have to stop myself saying it in a weird ET voice - sorry Sad

Pemba · 13/09/2018 22:09

I thought that that TV character (Scrubs?) was only named Elliot because her father wanted a boy?

Definitely a boys' name to me.

AuntieStella · 13/09/2018 22:14

Elliot and Ellis are both very trad boys names.

raviolidreaming · 13/09/2018 22:35

Pemba

I thought that that TV character (Scrubs?) was only named Elliot because her father wanted a boy?

Exactly. It's a boys name in Scrubs - that's the point!
