Do you like the name Grey?

Would you say it's more suited to a girl or a boy?

I’m not a fan but I would say it’s more of a boys name

I went to school with a Greyson unusual and I like it. He was/is male by the way

I’d say a boy.

But honestly all it makes me think of is the awful drivel that is 50 Shades and the equally awful Christian Grey!

Friends of ours called their son Graham, nn Gray.

Long ago, where I grew up, many children (now grown ups!) had surnames as given names. It's a southern thang. I had a friend called Gray. Our other friend's dad ALWAYS called her Blue...

I so wanted to call DS this but I was pregnant when 50 shades got really popular. I think you'd be safer now.

I like it definitely a boys name. I like Grayson too suggested it for ds2 but ex hated it.

I like it, definitely for a boy not a girl. I'd probably go for Grayson with the nick name grey. I'd definitely not go for Graham.

Scarlet is at least a nice colour.

It's the least interesting colour there is. It's used to describe things which are dreary and depressing. Why on earth would you want to give your child that as a name?

Makes me think Anatomy or 50 shades... I think it’s awful, but if I had to choose I would say it’s a boy’s name because I’d maybe assume it was short for Grayson, the artist Grayson Perry for instance goes by Claire when he’s being his female alter ego...

My cousin just had a Greyson. They may end up nn him Grey, I dunno. I like Greyson without being shortened, myself. And, yes, as others have noted it's also a nn for Graham. Grey strikes me more as a surname than a given name.

I quite like Greyson, but Grey on its own isn’t great. It so often used as a descriptor for something dull and ordinary, you know, it was grey day, he was a grey and boring man.

It’s awful. Dreary and dull.
