Does anyone like the name Teddy for a girl?

If you do like it for a girl, how would you spell it?

i like teddy for a girl or boy. i would spell it the way you just did, but if you wanted to be different then you could just spell it teddi x

Wolfiefan · 05/09/2018 18:15

No. And dear god don't spell it Teddi. Shock

Sophronia · 05/09/2018 18:16

Only if it’s short for Theodora.

Sandstormbrewing · 05/09/2018 18:32

Only if short for something, Theodora or Edwina for example. It isn't a name of its own.

Any it's spelled Teddy.

pastaandpestoagain · 05/09/2018 18:36

Short for Theodora yes, as a stand alone name cute while they are small but not an adult situation name.

Quangot · 05/09/2018 18:37

Not keen, sorry.

chasinggarlic · 05/09/2018 18:43

Teddii Wink

No. Seriously. It's awful as a given name.

ReginaPhalange89 · 05/09/2018 19:10

As a nn, not a proper name. Imagine introducing yourself as Teddy at an interview 🙈

Sunflower321 · 05/09/2018 19:26

Cute for a girl, but maybe as a nickname for Theodora?

I don't think many adults want to be named Teddy 🐻 as a full name!

CherryChatsworth · 05/09/2018 19:27

I have a 12 year old Teddy. Nickname Ted. He prefers Teddy though and is quite comfortable with his name and becoming a man with it. Confused it just suits him

However, it's not a girls name in my opinion

Bobbybobbins · 05/09/2018 19:35

Could be used as a nickname for Thea?

Pollydidntputthekettleon · 05/09/2018 19:36

Teddy as long as it's Theodora

OutPinked · 05/09/2018 20:07

It’s a cute NN but it shouldn’t be given as a forename.

greendale17 · 05/09/2018 20:10

Not as a forename.

Sunflower321 · 05/09/2018 20:29

Teddy works for any small child, boy or girl imo.

tenbob · 05/09/2018 21:11

sunflower
And what about when they are no longer a small child..?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 05/09/2018 21:15

I grew up with a girl whose name was Thurla. Her mum obviously not on Mumsnet to do a "do you like this name" survey...
Her nn was Teddy.

I love it as a boys name. Not so much as a girls.

Monday55 · 05/09/2018 21:22

please don't !

DramaAlpaca · 05/09/2018 22:06

I don't like it at all, but I think it should be spelled Teddie for a girl.

mamanrouge · 05/09/2018 22:08

My mums name is Theodora and Teddy is her nickname, it's fab!

Flamingosnbears · 05/09/2018 22:10

Teddy yes if full name is on BC or second name is more traditional...

Sunflower321 · 05/09/2018 22:31

And what about when they are no longer a small child..?

Then they can use their full name eg Thea or Theodora.

I find Teddy very cute and babyish. I wouldn't like that name as a teenager or adult.

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2018 22:35

Teddy short for Theodora is cute. Teddi is awful.

CherryChatsworth · 05/09/2018 22:36

People always seem to forget in 'baby names' topic that people 'become' their names. Honestly, Teddy doesn't seem at all cutesy to me or my DS. He's never had a single negative comment and his name just suits him. I suppose Ted is more 'grown up' and I call him both but his preference is Teddy

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2018 22:53

However dodgy a name is, it's the personality of the person that makes you like them.
