Hello all! My husband and I are expecting a boy in October, and we're thinking about these names: Chester or Darren.
We love both! Thoughts?

Darren is very dated. Much prefer Chester.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 20/08/2018 00:38

Can’t say I’m keen on either to be honest but think I prefer Chester, Darren is quite 70’s and feels a bit dated but he would probably be the only one in his class so if you want a unique name go for it.

DuggeeHugs · 20/08/2018 00:38

Of the two I prefer Darren because Chester doesn't work as a name for me (thanks to both the place and the character in Cars 3)

Lauren0rder · 20/08/2018 00:39

Darren?

Little baby Darren?

Please no.

Chester isn’t great either.

BurtTyrannosaurusMacklin · 20/08/2018 00:41

Chester. Darren is such a weird name for a child!

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 20/08/2018 00:44

Chester is slightly better than Darren in my opinion. Do you like Dexter or Casper?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/08/2018 02:00

Both are beyond dreadful. However Darren
is the far nicer of the two

DramaAlpaca · 20/08/2018 02:03

My thoughts are that both are horrid. Sorry.

annainboots · 20/08/2018 03:29

I much prefer Darren. I can't imagine any teenage boy would appreciate being named Chester..

MrsFoxPlus4 · 20/08/2018 04:43

I hate the name Darren, its my stalkers name. Baby Chester gets my vote!

TheDowagerCuntess · 20/08/2018 04:59

OP - perhaps you can give us the reasoning behind your favoured names. They are both very unusual choices.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/08/2018 09:11

I'd go for Chester !

NameChangedNow · 20/08/2018 09:12

I like Darren

AtticaRose · 20/08/2018 09:15

Hmm I'd go for Darren, I think.

I agree with PP - could you tell us what you like about them?

Cbeebiesrehab · 20/08/2018 09:19

Davina McCall and Holly Whilloby (probably spelt wrong!) both have a Chester so feels a bit ‘sleb’ to me. However it is considerably better than Darren IMO which reminds me of a used car salesmanGrin

AuntieStella · 20/08/2018 09:21

Of the two, I prefer Darren

babyshark1 · 20/08/2018 09:26

Unless your going to give birth to a 40 year old brickie, I'd deffo go with Chester.

RedDwarves · 20/08/2018 09:43

Darren is awful sorry. Makes me think of mid-70s to early-80s born tradies - always shortened to "Dazza" in Australia.

Chester is fine. Very American, but there's nothing wrong with that.

IvyFluids · 20/08/2018 10:02

RedDwarves As soon as I read that I was saying Daaaaazzzaaaa in my head in the biggest bogan accent Grin

Chester...hey Chester Drawers.

Chester is the better of the two IMO. It has a preppy American ring to it but you could make it work.

greendale17 · 20/08/2018 10:05

Darren reminds me of bad boy blokes. No baby in this day and age should be called Darren.

Chester is far better but quite American.

Sophronia · 20/08/2018 11:46

Darren

RavenWings · 20/08/2018 12:22

Darren is much better.
Chester is a name for a horse.

SnowyAlps · 20/08/2018 12:57

Dazza- Darren- no, just no

Chester- i imagine him being red head, because of a character off something I can’t quite remember.......

Pudding01 · 20/08/2018 13:20

Out of the two I would pick Chester 🙂

Only Chester I know of, was the one from Linkin Park and he was a bit of a legend 👍

SaoirseTheSeahorse · 20/08/2018 14:40

Oh sorry, I don’t like either! Um... Darren at a push. What else was on your list?
