Classic girls names Alice? Elizabeth?

There are loads of boys names that are always popular, in the top 100 and don't date. William, James, Edward, Thomas etc

I can't think of many girls names. Most seem to go in and out of fashion more. Suggestions?

My daughter is Elizabeth Alice. I also have a James. I feel this is the thread for me Grin

Other girls names we considered:

Emily
Charlotte
Martha (though not sure I'd put this in the classic category)
Hester

They’re old names anyway. You are right that they come and go in fashion.

I picked two classic names too (boy/girl). I like that they are timeless.

I would say Charlotte, Emma, Elizabeth, Catherine, Alice are particular classics.

Just open a Jane Austen novel and take your pick!

Lucy. Jessica. Kate. Rose. Molly. Olivia Grace. Florence. Beatrice. Megan

Charlotte is a beautiful name.

Whenever I meet an Alice, a little voice in my head says, "Alice! Who the fuck is Alice?"

Mishappening · 28/07/2018 08:48

Grace

I didn't think that Sarah went in and out of fashion but I noticed on another thread recently somebody described it as dated.

I think Sarah, Rachel, Anna and Jane never go out of fashion. I cannot say that any of those names are more likely to be a certain age

Just open a Jane Austen novel and take your pick!

I suspect Fanny will never enjoy a renaissance.

REALLY

I have worked with under 5s for 13 years. I have met one little Anna. Never a little Jane, Sarah or Rachel! To me they are 30+ Rachel and Sarah, 40+ Jane.

MrSpock · 28/07/2018 09:08

My name gets mentioned a lot on these threads!

I’d say

Emma
Rebecca
Victoria
Catherine
Beatrice
Tabitha
Lucy
Anne
Phillipa
Mary
Charlotte

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/07/2018 09:08

I agree about Sarah, Jane and Rachel not being in fashion now. But I know quite a few Anna's under the age of 16 or so.

MrSpock · 28/07/2018 09:09

I know a 25 year old Anna, and a Sarah who’s around 28. None younger.

CheeseTheDay · 28/07/2018 09:10

There are two girl's names which have been in the England and Wales top 100 every year since the lists began, they are Elizabeth and Sarah.
