Choosing between these five names but very open to more suggestions. Which do you like best?

Inès
Naomi
Valentine
Romane
Alicia

To go with very French surname beginning with R.

Saint Valentine was a man.

BlancheM · 20/07/2018 17:17

Mike, I'm talking about in French.

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 17:21

It could be a unisex name, maybe Valentin is the male version in French.

cheeseoverchocolate · 20/07/2018 17:21

Are Naomi and Alicia French? Did you mean Noémie and Alice?

BlancheM · 20/07/2018 17:22

Mike, yes it is, as I said

Susannach · 20/07/2018 17:31

I so love Inès!

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 17:33

S'ok then.
I like Alicia the way you say it, but prefer Alice.
Al-eece.

LeeMiller · 20/07/2018 17:34

Inès. Romane is pretty too. Noémie is nicer than Naomi.

Though if I could go for a French name I'd choose Anaïs, Manon or
Anouk.

ISeeTheLight · 20/07/2018 17:34

Emma (Emanuelle)
Amélie
Sophie

Agree that your names aren't particularly French, eg they'd use Noémie.

itssquidstella · 20/07/2018 17:34

Ines, Romane, then Valentine. Not a fan of the others.

PixelAteMe · 20/07/2018 17:35

Of the names on your list, only Romane and Valentine are French. As a pp pointed out, Noemie is the French version of Naomi.

Are you living in France or the U.K.? Are you looking for a name easy to pronounce in both countries, or do you just happen to have a French surname and want a name that goes well with it?

Personally I wouldn’t choose Romane if your surname begins with “R” unless you live in France - her entire name would be badly pronounced in the U.K.!

MyBreadIsEggy · 20/07/2018 17:38

Alicia is my favourite from your list.

But there are so many beautiful French names!!
I love Amelie, Magali, Angelique and Margot

HeyDolly · 20/07/2018 17:38

Elodie & Juliette are lovely French names imo.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 20/07/2018 17:39

I like Anaëlle. Agree that some of your chosen names aren't particularly French.

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 17:41

Anaëlle is very pretty.

pieceofpurplesky · 20/07/2018 17:43

Aurelia
Manon

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/07/2018 17:46

Ines ❤️

Racecardriver · 20/07/2018 17:53

Valentine is a male name though isn't it?

AnaisB · 20/07/2018 18:06

I like romane and valentine a lot and know a lovely (French) Alicia.

If you live on the uk do not use Anais unless you want her to have a lifetime of correcting pronunciations!

haribosmarties · 20/07/2018 18:09

I dont really like Alicia but I love all the others!!
Think Naomi and Valentine are my faves.

MongerTruffle · 20/07/2018 18:09

Valentine is a male name though isn't it?
Not in French.

Hippopotas · 20/07/2018 18:14

Ines is a nice name

bibbidybobbidyboo · 20/07/2018 18:18

Valentine is definitely a girl's name in France (I have met some). Valentin is a boy's name.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/07/2018 18:21

How is Ines pronounced? In-ez? I'm not that enamoured tbf.

Valentina is gorgeous. I like Manon too.
Is Anouk French? Love that.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 20/07/2018 18:23

When I lived in Paris I met a girl whose name was Benedicte, which I always thought was lovely when pronounced with a french accent, I also love Beatrice when pronounced the french way and for the same reason Alicia is lovely. The names on your list don't appear to be particularly french - will they be said with a french accent, i.e. will you be living in a french speaking country, because frankly any name in a french accent sound lovely.
