These are the final 2. Which do you like more?

Aubrey!

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 15:56

Definitely Aubrey.

thismeansnothing · 05/07/2018 16:01

Beau

catchyjem · 05/07/2018 16:17

Beau

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 05/07/2018 16:19

Isn't Aubrey a dd name and Beau for a ds?

MorrisDancingViv · 05/07/2018 16:20

Assuming they are both boys - I prefer Beau

Cadencia · 05/07/2018 16:22

The only Aubrey I know is a boy. I prefer it to Beau.

Strawberry2017 · 05/07/2018 16:27

I have a DD called Aubrey!

Grandmaswagsbag · 05/07/2018 16:28

Aubrey is really mans name.

Notso · 05/07/2018 16:29

For a boy I prefer Beau.

For a girl, pick a girls name!

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 16:34

Aubrey is definitely a male name.

Pemba · 05/07/2018 16:34

Don't like either. Beau is annoyingly wrong for a girl, and cheesily like something from Gone with the Wind for a boy. Besides, being named beautiful /handsome is an awful lot to live up to.

Aubrey is also annoying wrong for a girl - it's a male name. But for a boy it sounds a bit wussy somehow.

I like Audrey for a girl.

overmydeadbody · 05/07/2018 16:36

Beau

Aubrey is awful

mistermagpie · 05/07/2018 16:39

I'll be honest, they are both names that, if I heard them in real life, I wouldn't know if the person was male or female. Not that it really matters I suppose?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/07/2018 16:43

I'm afraid I don't like either of them.

Beau for a girl - wrong, just wrong, like nails on a blackboard to me given that it's a masculine gender adjective in French

Beau for a boy - dreadful name to live up to, what if he's not very beautiful?

Beau for either sex - sets them up for a lifetime of misspellings and people looking at the written name and not having a clue how to pronounce it

Aubrey for a boy - never liked it anyway and now there is a confusion about whether it's a girl's name or a boy's name it will just cause endless hassle - you would know you were right, it's a boy's name traditionally, but a lot of people will assume you are wrong

Aubrey for a girl - as above, with the added issue that this was never traditionally a girl's name in the UK so you'll be assailed by pedants like me assuming you are wrong

Frazzlerock · 05/07/2018 16:45

Aubrey was my granddad's name. I'd like to use it as a middle name for a future DS. Not sure I'd be brave enough to use it as a first name! I've never heard it used for a girl. Audrey yes, but not Aubrey Confused

FootballsComingHome · 05/07/2018 16:48

Assuming both for a boy, quite like Aubrey

YesILikeItToo · 05/07/2018 16:56

I like Aubrey better, because I like this fellow and I'm not so keen on this fellow.

Lycanthropology · 05/07/2018 17:36

I assume your DC is a boy?

In that case Aubrey. I've met a couple of Beaus but they were both American. Don't think it would work here so well.

If your DC is a girl then neither: they're both boys' names.

TheWillowsAtNight · 05/07/2018 17:36

It's for our son.

OP posts:
Grandmaswagsbag · 05/07/2018 17:38

In that case definitely Aubrey.

MikeUniformMike · 05/07/2018 17:38

Both awful.

tryingtocatchthewind · 05/07/2018 17:39

I like Aubrey, I worked with a lovely guy called Aubrey.

TheWillowsAtNight · 05/07/2018 17:40

Not to be rude, but I asked which one you liked more (even if you think they're both awful) and if you don't prefer one, what's the point in commenting?

I like Aubrey, I don’t like Beau, it sounds unfinished to me.
