Winter Ivey Sage H for a boy.

What do you think?

Open to suggestions that include Winter, but also fit the WISH theme.

Reminds me of the cheap shopping app 🙈

I like Winter but would assume a girl
Ivey again I would assume a girl
Sage - I like it with a Sunday dinner Blush

When is your DS due OP?

happytobemrsg · 29/06/2018 19:51

OP why does it need to spell WISH?

RideOn · 29/06/2018 19:52

Agree with pps. If you are going to call him Winter I would pick 2 boys names that are not also objects/seasons/months/colours/fruit etc

Winter Isaac Stephen

I don't think the initials matter much, I rarely use mine. If there are other names you like better/family members you would like to honour, I think those would be better middle names.

StillNoClue · 29/06/2018 21:05

Winter, Ivey and sage are names I would normally associate with a girl.

I've only heard of one male being called ivy and he was the sort you wouldn't mess with. It sort of suited him 🤷‍♀️

If you specifically want his initials to spell WISH I'm not sure why what about;
William, Walter, Wilbur, Wesley, Weston, Winston,
Ivan, Ian, (struggling with 'I')
Samuel, Shane, Sebastian, Solomon, storm,
Then your surname..

You could probably get away with one of those names, but all 3 together is very feminine IMO.

Marcipex · 29/06/2018 23:36

It sounds like you wanted a girl. I know a boy called Willow, poor kid, because his parents wanted a girl. Don't do it.

SemperIdem · 30/06/2018 01:57

How interesting to see that posters are rather less keen to have a boy be given “female” names in comparison to the responses to the thread about calling a girl Cooper.

SummerofDoom · 30/06/2018 02:15

I know 2 Winters, both girls.
I S names:
Ivan Stephen
Ian Samuel
Isaac Sennan

HRMTheQueen · 30/06/2018 02:19

I thought you meant the name was “Wish”. That’s adorable!

Londoner999 · 30/06/2018 02:23

Poor boy will get bullied for life with a name like that. Don't do it!

humblebumble · 30/06/2018 03:24

I like the name Winter. I don't see that it is attached to a season at all.

I'm less keen on Ivey and Sage. I did like someone else's suggestion of Storm although that would be a lot of weather connotations. I love the name Idris.

Honestly, all that crap about a child being bullied about their name... does that still happen? Maybe by all the posters children who have made such awful comments?

mathanxiety · 30/06/2018 06:31

I also like Winter Idris.

How about
Winter Idris Sterling
Winter Idris Struan
Winter Idris Sholto
Winter Idris Santana
Winter Idris St John
Winter Idris Sparrow
Winter Idris Soren
Winter Idris Spiridon

Phyllispontypandy · 30/06/2018 08:34

Love Winter for a boy or girl. How about Idris Sebastian H ?

Twillow · 30/06/2018 14:50

You can tell the name suggestion is a little, let's say, off the wall, when somone thinks these are more reasonable suggestions!

How about
Winter Idris Sterling
Winter Idris Struan
Winter Idris Sholto
Winter Idris Santana
Winter Idris St John
Winter Idris Sparrow
Winter Idris Soren
Winter Idris Spiridon

It's simple - boys are far more likely to be bullied for being too girly than girls are for being too boyish.

I'm all for tackling that phenomenon and bringing down the gender norms that harm boys perhaps even more than girls, but I wouldn't do that through my child's name. They're an individual in their own right, not a chance for me to express my wokeness.

LoveInTokyo · 30/06/2018 21:58

Cooper for a girl is equally awful IMO. Although I don’t even like it for a boy. These stupid American trends should go back to America and stay there.

LoveInTokyo · 30/06/2018 22:00

OP hasn’t said when she is actually due.

I wonder if “Winter” is going to be born in high summer?

FizzyGreenWater · 30/06/2018 22:03

What? No, if anything a girl called Cooper is an even more appalling prospect.

kaytee87 · 01/07/2018 00:07

I like the name Winter. I don't see that it is attached to a season at all

Not attached to a Season? It is a season!

mathanxiety · 01/07/2018 00:18

It's also a surname though.

Some words belong in more than one category.

Fwiw Twillow, I know boys and men who bear all the S names I posted with the exception of Sparrow, as first names. And I think it is clear that the OP was open to unusual names. Why mock that?

Quantumblue · 01/07/2018 04:07

How about Wystan (WH Auden). Then you could call him Wish for short.

GinIsIn · 01/07/2018 04:19

Seriously, give him at least one name that’s isn’t a. A noun and b. A girl’s name so he doesn’t have to go through the hassle of deed poll when he wants to get rid of the ridiculous name when he’s older.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 01/07/2018 07:49

OP the responses here are a clear insight into how everyone/general public will react to your son’s name if you go with those names... if you’re cool with that then OK! (But I’m assuming not as otherwise why ask what we think?)

SoupDragon · 01/07/2018 08:52

if you’re cool with that then OK!

It isn’t her who has to be cool with it, it’s her son.

auntyflonono · 01/07/2018 09:15

Winter Idris Saul
Wolfric Ivan Sorrel
