Winter Ivey Sage H for a boy.

What do you think?

Open to suggestions that include Winter, but also fit the WISH theme.

Said with kindness but You're naming person not a baby. Your ds will not thank you when he is 15 and has 3 girls names.
Also they don't even mesh well together

ReginaPhalange20 · 28/06/2018 00:04

Awful

letsallhaveanap · 28/06/2018 00:09

Winter Ivan Saul H?

And I think Winter is a lovely name and not actually that unusual now days... I mean its not in the top ten or anything but I have heard of a couple of baby Winters of both genders

Choccywoccyhooha · 28/06/2018 00:11

Winter is a lovely name for a boy or girl and I love the suggestion above of Winter Inigo Sage. I'm not so keen on Ivey for a boy. Other I names for you, just in case you like any of them...
Issa, Iolo, Ivo, Ivor, Ivan, Indy, Indiana, Isambard. I think we had all if those on our baby name lists at some point.

sycamore54321 · 28/06/2018 00:18

Your name choices aren't at all to my taste but can I at least advise that you don't use more than one name which is also a regular word? It sounds like a paint colour or an entry in a seed catalogu or a description of something. If you use Winter. I'd strongly suggest the other names are words that are only names. Personally I wouldn't like my initials to be choosen to spell a word but obviously tastes differ.

Ian, Ivan, Ignatio...
Sean, Stephen, Sam, Setanta, Senan...

AornisHades · 28/06/2018 00:26

We have relatives with the surname Ivey but most people will see Ivy spelt wrong.
Four names and not one of them being a 'boy' name sounds unfair. Give him the option of neutral plus obviously male. Use Ifor/Ivor/Ivo/Ian etc or Saul/Stephen/Stuart etc.

TheOriginalEmu · 28/06/2018 00:28

Ifan, Ioan, Ivor, Ivan.
Seth, Samuel.

I do have to agree that Winter is a very feminine name.

PippilottaLongstocking · 28/06/2018 00:34

Winter doesn’t sound feminine to me, possibly because I’ve never known anyone called Winter. For no reason whatsoever I picture Winter to be a bearded man wrapped in furs and wielding an axe in the snow.

dinosaurkisses · 28/06/2018 00:43

Oh god, no.

Winter for a lad? Imagine if he went on to be an accountant instead of a lifestyle blogger.

This is the 2018 equivalent of those poor blokes born in the 1950s called Hillary or Lesley.

Mollie85 · 28/06/2018 09:53

I know a male Wynter who is the nicest guy. Intelligent, articulate, kind, etc. Still not overly keen on the name though.

The other names are girls names, but there are lots of fab suggestions here. Definitely like Solomon Grin

Are the WISH initials non-negotiable too?

LoveInTokyo · 28/06/2018 09:55

OP, you do realise that you are naming a person, right? And that this person will have to live with the name you pick for the rest of their life? (Unless they change their name, in which case you can be pretty certain that you chose poorly.)

LoveInTokyo · 28/06/2018 09:56

Mollie I had a great uncle who was called William Wynter, nn Wyn.

RedDwarves · 28/06/2018 09:57

Winter, Ivy and Sage are all feminine names.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 28/06/2018 09:58

I normally hate Y being substituted for I in names but I really like Wynter for a boy

Blaablaablaa · 28/06/2018 10:01

Just trying to imagine getting a job application from a man called winter.......nope sorry not only does it sound feminine it's not a name.

LauderSyme · 28/06/2018 10:05

I think some of these responses are unkind and that Winter is lovely and fine for a boy, especially in this day and age with so many children sporting unusual names. I would suggest something other than Ivey and Sage though, as they are quite feminine. I like Isaac and Soloman. And I think his initials are cool 😎

LoveInTokyo · 28/06/2018 10:12

LauderSyme It's not so much Winter, although I think a lot of people are likely to assume that he is a girl before they meet him.

It's the fact that she has chosen three names which all sound more like girls' names than boys' names (so he can't even use a more masculine middle name if he feels Winter is too feminine when he is older), and that she has picked out initials that she wants to spell a particular word and is determined to find a name to fit.

OP, if you must spell "WISH" (which is idiotic IMO, you are naming a person, remember), and Winter is non-negotiable, at least give him middle names which are more masculine and more normal, so he has options.

If I were your son I'd grow up believing you were disappointed I wasn't a girl.

kaytee87 · 28/06/2018 10:14

They're all (not very nice) girls names.

CourtneyLovely · 28/06/2018 10:18

I don't understand the initials thing. In literally no part of my life have I used my initials for anything.

As a PP has pointed out, Winter Ivy Sage sounds like it should be on the dulux colour chart.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 28/06/2018 10:28

For all those wondering why initials are important, does it matter that they're not important to you? They're obviously relevant to the OP. Saying that, a relative of mine recently named their child using the initials WTAF...seriously. Grin

Mousefunky · 28/06/2018 11:10

Ivy is a girls name and Ivey just looks illiterate.

Winter isn’t a name, neither is summer. I hate season names. And sage is a herb Grin. Don’t like it, sorry.

Mousefunky · 28/06/2018 11:11

dinosaurkisses those are Male names originally though. I’ve never actually met a female Lesley.

TheCraicDealer · 28/06/2018 11:45

I know loads of female Lesleys! There's a well known businessman here who has named loads of buildings after his wife, who's called Lesley. DH says he loves me but I won't believe him until he names an office block after me.

Wynter is better. I'd still stay away from it unless baby is actually due between 21 December and 20 March, particularly with Ivey in there too. V Christmassy vibes as someone else pointed out.

MariaMadita · 28/06/2018 13:03

Ivey...? I don't like it. Sage is ok but a bit too hippy-dippy when combined with winter imo.

Winter Ivan Sebastian is nice imo.

Winter Igor Seraphim
Winter Ignatius Severin
Winter Immanuel Samuel
Winter Ignazio Silas
Winter Ivo Silvanus
Winter Isaac Solomon
Winter Ivor Seamus

MariaMadita · 28/06/2018 13:09

But is winter really non-negotiable?

William, Wilhelm, Wilko, Watson, Winslow, Wolfe, Walter...?

You could use a name that starts with W and have Inverno as a middle name (Winter in Italian)? Or Invierno (Winter in Spanish)?

WISH is such a cute idea :) But I'm not too keen on winter, tbh...

William Inverno / Invierno Sebastian H...?
