Any opinions? And which way should it be spelled? Smile

What pronunciation do you want?

I'd interpret the first as French/Spanish (with the accent the other way though), the second as English, and the third as Italian, and pronounce them accordingly - and very differently.

furandchandeliers · 23/06/2018 16:44

How are they pronounced? I thought Cesare might be pronounced differently actually, do you pronounce the e at the end?

I'd assume Cesare was Italian, in which case it's "Chey-se-ray"

César in French is "Saiz-ar". Caesar I'd say "See-zer". So all quite different.

NameChange30 · 23/06/2018 16:53

Salad.

Don’t do it.

NeepNeepNeep · 23/06/2018 16:54

Cat food.

NameChange30 · 23/06/2018 16:55

“I'd assume Cesare was Italian, in which case it's "Chey-se-ray"”

No it’s “say-zah-ray” with stress on middle syllable

NeepNeepNeep · 23/06/2018 16:56

I'm wrong. It's dog food.

NeepNeepNeep · 23/06/2018 16:56

What about Felix?

LeeMiller · 23/06/2018 17:00

“I'd assume Cesare was Italian, in which case it's "Chey-se-ray"”

No it’s “say-zah-ray” with stress on middle syllable

No, Ce in Italian is 'Ch' in English: It's Chay/Che not Say.

Username12345 · 23/06/2018 17:03

How are they pronounced?

If you don't know why are you using it Hmm

NameChange30 · 23/06/2018 17:05

SOrry my bad. Stress on first syllable not second. The second syllable is “sa” not “se” though.

I like it when it's pronounced see-zer, but I prefer the spelling CèsarConfused

Twatface? Nice.

NameChange30 · 23/06/2018 18:22

“the spelling Cèsar” doesn’t exist

It’s César

ElMarineroBaila · 23/06/2018 18:35

Lol at twatface. I was gonna be nice but I'll respond in a manner more befitting - IT'S A SHIT NAME

Paranoixia · 23/06/2018 18:38

A kid called Caesar? Seriously?

Way to give them a superiority complex.

Paranoixia · 23/06/2018 18:39

Just don't do it. It's an appalling name.

LiteraryDevil1 · 23/06/2018 19:54

furandchandeliers · 23/06/2018 20:07

LiteraryDevil1 · 23/06/2018 20:16

Well, they aren't named after dog food that's for sure! And I knew how to spell and pronounce them all.

You can swear, but MN draw the line on name-calling.

Novia · 23/06/2018 20:25

My Spanish nephew is César (pronounced thes-ar). It's fairly commonplace here. I think it's a nice name, but maybe a bit weird if you don't have a Spanish connection?

Oriunda · 23/06/2018 21:52

Cesare is pronounced Chez-ah-ray in Italian. Not an uncommon name in Italy but will be mispronounced in UK and makes no sense unless you are Italian. Which I’m guessing you’re not.

grasspigeons · 23/06/2018 21:57

I know one pronounced

se zhar ay

not sure where he is from - he has a European accent

I quite like the name but I would got with cesar the cat food.
