Any opinions? And which way should it be spelled? Smile

So you think the name is after the dog food? I always assumed the name was first then the dog food ConfusedGrin someone's been brainwashed by adverts!

I know how to pronounce the name I was asking how to pronounce the different ways it was spelled as google wasn't bringing up much help.

I have maltese/Irish background and Maltese surname so it wouldn't sound out of place.

Yes I think the dog food came before the Roman Empire.

I would mentally add “...Mr Dog” to it every time I said it.

If that kind of thing would bother you, don’t use it. The Caesar/Mr Dog association is pretty strong.

Watch Borgia.

pinkbobbles · 23/06/2018 23:32

Imperial Caesar, dead and turned to clay ...

Somersetter · 23/06/2018 23:36

It would be odd to use a spelling with an accent for no apparent reason. But if you do, definitely get the accent the right way round Wink

The é makes an ay sound. So if you see then pronunciation see-zer don't spell is César as that would be 'say-zer'.

You need to be sure how letters are pronounced before using them!

It's ok we got a German shepherd puppy yesterday and we used it for him insteadGrin

I went to see Zulu Shakespeare once (don't do it, it went on forever) I liked the way they pronounced it - say-ZAR!
Good dog name.

Cosmoa · 26/06/2018 08:50

Haha brilliant! Enjoy your puppy Grin

He's lovely.

MariaMadita · 28/06/2018 10:47

No it’s “say-zah-ray” with stress on middle syllable

No. The c before an e become a ch/tsh.

Tshe ..-suh - reh. (Reh a bit like egg. Or air. Or anything...)

That's a very clear example imo
Anyhow, what a gorgeous dog!!

So adorable!!!

Julius and Cesare / César are both great names imo. For a dog or a boy, tbh ..
