Juliet
Cassia
Ferne

Which one do you like best?

Names that have been vetoed by DH that I also like are Romilly & Rowena.

Thank you Flowers

Cassia followed by Juliet.

Dislike Ferne however it is spelt.

Coey2016 · 09/06/2018 06:00

Juliet

deptfordgirl · 09/06/2018 07:28

Definitely Juliet.

HeyDolly · 09/06/2018 07:30

So it seems to be Juliet followed by Cassia which is my own slight preference but I still am very torn between the two.

The only thing that puts me off about Cassia is that the name means ‘cinammon’ which isn’t really a proper meaning imo! Juliet means ‘youthful’. DD1 has a name which means ‘joy/joyful’ which I love.

Another vote for Juliet!

Bubblesoup · 09/06/2018 07:33

Ferne ❤

TatianaLarina · 09/06/2018 08:32

Juliet is exceptionally dull name and I wouldn’t be influenced by posters here as they’re generally very conservative.

Cassia is an ingredient.

What about Cassandra nn Cassie which would sound very similar, Callista, Callisto, Calina.

RedDwarves · 09/06/2018 10:22

Juliet.

Cassia and Fern (this spelling) are both nice too, but Juliet is in a league of its own.

Flamingosnbears · 09/06/2018 10:36

Fern for me lovely name and a lovely childhood story to read her is Charlotte's Web.

LoveInTokyo · 09/06/2018 10:44

Juliet.

ZebraKid71 · 09/06/2018 12:31

I love Cassia, what about Kezia?
I like Juliet too but agree with your concerns about jools or other nns.

I quite like fern but it's rather popular among my circles at the moment.

daisypond · 09/06/2018 12:46

I actually prefer Julia to Juliet - I'm not so keen on the "et" diminutive on the name that makes it a little girlish. The name still means "youthful".

MollyHuaCha · 09/06/2018 23:10

Juliet.

Also love Julia.

MrsDilber · 09/06/2018 23:32

Juliette

AdaColeman · 09/06/2018 23:34

Juliet by many a mile!

MrsJoker · 09/06/2018 23:37

Definitely Juliet. Very pretty name, and Jules as a nickname is also lovely.

Bagadverts · 09/06/2018 23:37

Juliet

Patal · 10/06/2018 08:03

Cassia for sure - beautiful name

pjmama11 · 11/06/2018 14:35

i like juliet :) very pretty and sweet. though you might want to also think about how it'll go with her last name, and if you like the nicknames she'll probably have e.g. 'jools'. i've written an article on my blog about choosing baby names if you'd like to check it out :) mamainpyjamas.com/2018/06/06/whats-in-a-name-naming-your-baby/

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 11/06/2018 17:39

Definitely Cassia. It's so feminine and a bit different. Juliet is lovely too but nowhere near as nice as Cassia.

Fearne is terrible. Such an awful sound.

Thea?
Felicity?
Clementine?

HeyDolly · 11/06/2018 17:58

Duck Clementine and Thea were on my list for DD1 but I’m not so keen on them anymore. DH just laughed at Clementine so I’ve no hope of getting it past him again. I like Thea so long as people put the emphasis on the TH. Otherwise it would just continually irk me that some people pronounce it too much like ‘Fear’.

Please not Ferne. I am begging you.
That was my birth name, and I legally changed it the minute I could.
Every teacher without fail pronounced the E on the end, I was bullied for it through the whole of school - primary and secondary - and travelling is a nightmare as in some languages it's literally unpronounceable.
Since changing it, I have friends where I was isolated before, I no longer have to repeat my name 5 times then spell it on every phonecall, and I can introduce myself to people without crippling anxiety.
That name was a curse. Seriously, don't.
I'm 24 and just letting go of the resentment I held towards my mother for naming me that.

Cassia is lovely.

TatianaLarina · 11/06/2018 18:09

And yet Fern Britton and Fearne Cotton have plenty of friends...

Point being that people aren’t bullied for a name, they’re bullied because they’re vulnerable.

Fern’s an awful name though.

Lulu1919 · 11/06/2018 18:12

Cassia.

although you could get Cas or Cassy

I named my girls names that can’t be shortened in that way !!

BikeRunSki · 11/06/2018 18:18

Juliet is one of my favourite names. My fantasy girl twins would be Josephine and Juliet.

Cassia is nice too. Yes, it is the botanical name for the cinnamon tree, but I see no reason why this is different to other botanical names, like Ferm - or Ash, Rowan, Willow etc.
