I really like the name Santa (Spanish name) and luella... I also like Tabitha james.

I can't decide! Please don't post to be negative. Just move on.

It's like my surname. And I got nicknamed Santa at school. What about Jaimie if you like James.

dailymailsucksbigtime · 26/05/2018 21:54

Santina is a character in minecraft

RavenWings · 26/05/2018 22:01

There was a Santana on Glee. I think that's much more wearable than Santa tbh. Santa is begging for ho ho ho jokes.

SuitedandBooted · 26/05/2018 22:03

Santina is really nice, and Tabitha too. They are both strong, unusual names.

I really think Santa would be cruel in the UK. Kids will make fun of her. Also, think what happens when you hear your name said out loud. You automatically react in some way, it's a reflex action. Can you just imagine Christmas time - and how many times teachers/kids/anyone mentions Santa? Your poor DD will be a nervous wreck!

Joeybee · 26/05/2018 22:15

Luella is a bit too cutesy for me, but it's a lovely name that works well in the UK I think. Also Lou is a nice nickname.

Tabitha just makes me think of a cat.

Santa is a lovely name, but doesn't work in the UK. People just associate it with Father Christmas. The child would get made fun of with the name Santa.

bridgetreilly · 27/05/2018 16:11

Tabitha is lovely, but James is ridiculous.

ellalouise90 · 27/05/2018 19:30

Luella 💙

I like Luella Santina as a combination.

MrsWhirly · 27/05/2018 22:39

If you live in the UK, please don’t call your child Santa. You’ll just be setting them up for a life of piss take.

Topseyt · 28/05/2018 00:17

Tabitha or Luella for me. Without the James, as I really can't see why you would give a girl a name that is definitely a boy's name.

Tabitha Jane or Luella Jane might work.

Santa is just ridiculous, and I think it will invite taunts throughout school. I wouldn't do that to a child.

Coolaschmoola · 28/05/2018 00:25

"I knew a lady called Santa and she was sassy, intelligent and feisty..."

But what if your child ISN'T those things?

"I just hate all these 'samey' names and would like my child to have a name she can feel empowered by."

Having other children take the piss out of your name constantly is not empowering. It's the opposite.

Santina is lovely.

Tabitha is lovely.

James - another potential aspect for bullying.

Luella - it's a doll brand isn't it?

Whitley83 · 28/05/2018 09:07

My child will be things.

Luella isn't a brand of doll.

James is a unisex name.

OP posts:
bridgetreilly · 28/05/2018 09:10

James is not a unisex name.

TatianaLarina · 28/05/2018 09:10

Santa is lovely, Luella is not. Tabitha is quite nice but I prefer Talitha.

James is not unisex, Jaime is. It would just sound like you were copying Blake Lively.

TatianaLarina · 28/05/2018 09:11

Snap

TaggieRR · 28/05/2018 09:13

I agree with the others that James is not a unisex name

missmouse101 · 28/05/2018 09:14

James is not a unisex name! Please don’t call her that. I agree with everyone about Santa being unwearable in the uk. Louella, spelt properly, is lovely. Tabitha is meh to me.

GoForthSon · 28/05/2018 09:17

My child will be things.

You can't know that yet surely? If you call your baby Santa they will get teased all the time. 🎅🏼

briarrabbit · 28/05/2018 09:41

OP people have raised many good points on this thread, sometimes as parents we need to take a step back and realise that regardless of our own personal taste it’s the child that has to live with the name.
Call your daughter James if you like, but recognise it is not a unisex name. Just because someone has used it on a female does not make it unisex. If I named my son Isabella, Isabella would not automatically be considered unisex.

Anasnake · 28/05/2018 09:46

James is ridiculous
Santa is ridiculous- unless you want people shouting 'ho ho ho' at her for the rest of her life.

daisypond · 28/05/2018 09:55

I don't mind Santa, actually. I'm sure I've met one before, but I'm struggling to place her. I've got I feeling it was short for a form of Alexandra. However, I do think it might be difficult to pull off in the UK. Santina would be easier in everyday life. I really don't like Luella, though. James is a boy's name. Tabitha is fine. I wouldn't say that either Santa or Luella were particularly empowering names, as they're either diminutives or very girly - so the opposite of what you want. Alexandra or Alessandra would be much more "empowering" imo.

Topseyt · 28/05/2018 09:59

James is 100% a boy's name. It isn't unisex.

Santa is Father Christmas, and utterly ridiculous. I highly doubt that a child would appreciate being saddled with it.

Coolaschmoola · 28/05/2018 10:01

"My child will be things."

Of COURSE your child "will be things"! Hmm

My point was (and, tbh, I was pretty clear) what if they are not THOSE things?

What if, instead of being 'feisty' they are quiet? What if, instead of being 'sassy' they are crushingly shy? What if, instead of being 'intelligent' they are average?

Of course your child 'will be things' - but the things they are may not be the things you think or want them to be. In that situation a name like 'Santa' or 'James' can be hugely detrimental to them.

ineedaholidaynow · 28/05/2018 10:05

Since when has James become unisex?
