Eloise Smile

Love Eden for a girl, I think it's unusual without being "over the top" and it's easy to spell when you give your name on the phone! Love Zachary for a boy (we short it to Zac for one of my DS).

Names from your list that I like/love:
Juliet, Vivienne, Lillian, Evangeline (nn. Eve/Eva), Elena (prettier than Helena and the correct spelling of the rather yooooonique Alayna), Gabrielle (though I prefer Gabriella), Fionnuala (nn Fi), Isabelle (and this spelling only), Carly (only as a nn for Carlotta though), Luciana, Jonah, Asher, Gabriel, Ryan, Elijah (nn Eli), Ezra, Frederick (nn Freddie) and Zachary (nn Zac).

Names from your list that I strongly dislike / would strongly advise against:
Caoimhe, Louisa (too dated), Martha (sounds stodgy), Irena, Margo, Alanis, Clodagh, Dorothy (too granny chic for me), Erin, Edith (dislike as it is very granny chic once again), Eithne, Elaine / Lainie (so dated), Orlaith, Ursula (all that comes to mind is the ugly villain from The Little Mermaid.. I couldn't), Lois, Anneliese (v. dated), Stephanie, Noah (too popular), Frank (an old man's name), Robert (old man's name with ugly sounding nicknames), Shane, Dexter and Finley (My mind goes straight to the fins on a fish when I hear this name, don't know why.... What about Flynn? Love that name).

LemonysSnicket · 27/05/2018 14:27

Alanis makes me think of analgesics ... or just anal

Jj2431 · 27/05/2018 15:09

Top runners now are:

Girls
Juliet
Vivienne
Hannah
Martha
Eleanor
Louisa

Boys
Noah
Asher
Gabriel
Frederick

We ended up cutting some out thinking it didn't go with surname as our surname has an ee sound and also some meanings were terrible. Took @karineaimee advice.

Juliet or Gabriel then!

Although I like all your final list except Vivienne and Frederick.

TroubledLichen · 27/05/2018 15:30

Juliet and Gabriel are the best Grin

Although all of your final names are absolutely lovely except for Asher. Sorry I just think it’s awful and it’s so different in style to the rest of your names (just an opinion though so please ignore if it’s your fave).

fcekinghell · 27/05/2018 15:59

Niamh, Caomihe, Alice and Eleanor.

I don't like any of your boys names. Dexter is a dog's name. Robin is Christopher Robin or Robin Hood.

Proudmummy2MA · 28/05/2018 21:31

From your updated list my favourites are Hannah and Gabriel.

Noah and Frederick/Freddie are very popular here if popularity of a name concerns you.

dancingunicorns123 · 28/05/2018 21:34

Delilah and Alfred are my favourites, you can shorten to Lilah or Lily and Alfie or Fred/Freddie

BasicBetty · 29/05/2018 13:09
